Outstanding Hotel!

Maria is an extraordinary host. She was at the ready to meet all our needs. Room was very clean and comfortable in a recently renovated hotel. Also, the hair dryer was the best out of the five hotels we stayed in. The garden is absolutely beautiful and provides the perfect place for breakfast in the morning and a bottle of wine in the evening. I would highly recommend!

Not Hospitable

I had the same experience as someone else who wrote a review here; I have never encountered hosts anywhere in Greece who have such an unfriendly, harsh and unreasonable attitude towards guests at a hotel like El Greco Hotel. Last minute my family and I were in need of having to find a place to stay for three nights. I walked a long way to see the two available rooms they had, and they refused to let me peak into one due to their inflexible policy: that rooms cannot be shown while being cleaned and only after 3pm. At which point, it was very late for us, and I was disappointed at their (mother and daughter) lack of consideration, especially taking into account that I had called them prior to my visit.

Great hotel, but after all that a disappointment

The hotel was superb, but what spoiled it for us was the package our son booked for us included a gift pack on arrival. We had to ask four times for this, and by the time they decided to deliver what had been booked and paid for it was the day before we were due to leave. The manager was very apologetic, but it is true. It is a lot easier to apologise than it is to get systems right in the first place. So the last impression of this hotel for us was of disappointment.

Disappointment due to poor plumbing issues.

Awful plumbing in the hotel. Our toilet would not flush for the 2 days we stayed here. We let the owner know immediately on the first day but it was not resolved during our stay. We were a tour group w 14 rooms and other rooms had the shower to overflow on the floor & AC drip from condensation on the floor. Others had to take cold showers. The outside garden is lovely as was the breakfast. Just a shame they have such poor plumbing. Check other reviews before booking to see if this issue is resolved. At this point, I would not recommend, unfortunately.

Greco Hotel has Potential but Misses the Mark.

While the Greco Hotel has a lovely location near the heart of Hydra, it really needs to improve its facilities, amenities, and services. The rooms are spartan and the beds are hard as rocks. The bracket to hold the shower head was broken...so you needed to hold the shower head in your hand to shower. Other travelers in our group also had complaints about broken showers and leaking toilets. The breakfast was below average....with scrambled eggs put out on a plate so they were cold by the time you arrived to eat.
The best part of the Greco was the location and the lovely outdoor courtyard full of flowers.
