Great food, great room, super welcoming.

The room was beautiful, the courtyard was peaceful, the views down the valley were stunning. Joanna and the other staff were friendly and helpful, and provided fantastic vegetarian and vegan food for us. A perfect place to start our walking holiday.

Absolutely charming, traditional guest house. Very good food. Excellent hostess. Strategically located for hikes & trips

The Thoukididis guest house (named after the owner, not the ancient historian Thucydides!) is a small, absolutely charming, traditional mansion.
Each room is individually decorated and furnished with locally crafted furniture. The house has been renovated respecting traditional building methods, with incredible attention to detail: witness for instance the closing mechanism of the main entrance, or the frames and hinges of the windows and doors. At the same time, the guest house offers full comfort, even for winter, including fire places in each room and modern bathroom amenities.
The host and her family are from the village. They make you actually feel like guests in their house and village, not just passing tourists. Thucydides has been involved for decades in the development of the region, including the clearing and marking of the hiking trails. He will happily provide advice on where to go or drive, according to your preferences and fitness.
The food is very good, and offers excellent value for money, both from a quantity and from a quality P.O.V. Much of the fruits and vegetables come from Thucydides’ own farm, a few km away.
The Thoukididis guest house is in Kapesovo, strategically located for hikes or car trips to the main sights of the Zagoria mountains. From there, I went straight down into the Vikos gorge, all the way to the Angostromeni Springs, and then up to the village of Vikos (14 km total, need good footwear and water, but technically not difficult – the swim in the spring (VERY cold, though) will reward you for the effort!); from Kapesovo, I also hiked Skala Vradeto, and further to the Beloi viewpoint. With the car, you reach within ½ hours a dozen villages and other sights (springs, stone bridges).

One of the nicest places I have ever stayed

The moment my wife and I walked up to the door, we were over overwhelmed by its beauty. We had travelled all day, so once the bags were in our room, we sat on the terrace with a cold beer and soaked up the silence, tranquility and breathtaking views. When we had unpacked our stuff in our lovely room, the food Joanna and Helen had prepared was second to none. Breakfast was a feast, and the ample packed lunch for our days walking was superb. It was very hard to leave. Sorry it's a bit late Joanna, but you made our trip. X

Lovely Place to Stay

A great place to stay .The owner Joanne and her staff are most welcoming.
Also they are really passionate about the lovely food they produce which is nearly all sourced locally.
There are lots of good walking routes nearby
