What a wonderful place to stay

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Our room was extremely clean, modern and very comfortable. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming and always happy to help.
The breakfast is excellent and offers such a wide variety that there really is something for everyone. The hotel’s menu is also extensive, and the food we had was very good.
The hotel itself is modern and has a lovely swimming pool with comfortable sun loungers and parasols. Pool towels are available from reception and can be exchanged every two days. You only pay a small deposit, which is refunded when you leave.
The nearby beach is also lovely, especially if you enjoy snorkelling. There are lots of fish to see! Try to go snorkelling when there isn’t too much wind, as the water is then beautifully clear and visibility underwater is excellent.
Unfortunately, our stay was unexpectedly cut short and we had to return home earlier than planned, so we didn’t get the chance to explore as much of the area or visit as many restaurants as we would have liked. However, Taverna Nina is an absolute must! Wonderful, authentic Greek food fresh, simple and full of flavour, without unnecessary fuss. The tzatziki with pita is absolutely delicious!
All in all, a fantastic modern hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the sea, with extremely friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely recommend staying here.
The only downside is the usual “towel reservation” situation around the pool. Unfortunately, if you arrive later in the morning, most or all of the sun loungers may already be occupied or reserved with towels. I don’t think this is necessarily because people are trying to claim the best spots; there simply seem to be too few loungers for the number of guests.
Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, Have a nice holiday, but with clear areas for improvement

We stayed 12 days at Cavo Marelia. Overall, it is a neat hotel that looks modern and well-kept, but there are some areas for improvement.
On arrival we unfortunately got a different room than we had booked. Fortunately, this was eventually resolved neatly and after a few days we were allowed to move to a better room, for which thanks.
Breakfast was disappointing. There was virtually no variation and in the photos online and on the video at the reception pancakes are shown. However, during our 12-day stay we did not see it once.
The pool is also a minus. There are simply too few sunbeds. In the period before the summer holidays there was always room, but as soon as the holiday started there was no cot available after about 09.30. The last three days we had to share one sunbed with four people, which is not pleasant.
The beds are also very hard. All four of us had back problems. The shower also leaked badly, so we had to put all towels in front of the shower door to prevent the entire bathroom and room from being flooded.
The guys behind the bar deserve a compliment. They are friendly, helpful and visibly doing their best.
The beach right by the hotel is very nice and definitely a nice place to relax. However, we found it strange that as a hotel guest you still have to pay for a sunbed on the beach. You would expect this to be included or at least available at a reduced rate.
In addition, we found the prices at the pool bar on the high side. As a hotel guest, you already pay a substantial amount for your stay, which makes it a shame that, for example, €4 is charged for a soft drink. At restaurants right next to the hotel or in the city centre you pay about €2.90 for the same drink. Of course, we understand that the hotel also wants to make money from the hospitality industry, but slightly more normal prices for food and drinks at the pool bar would feel a lot more welcoming.
What I really appreciated is that the hotel takes good care of three regular cats on site. They get food and drinks at reception. However, there was another cat that was in very bad shape. After inquiries it turned out that he probably has jaw cancer. Despite being incredibly sweet and clearly hungry and thirsty, it was always said that he “does not belong to the hotel”. We asked several times if there was anything that could be done for him, but we got the feeling that the reception was becoming increasingly annoyed by this. We gave the cat food and drinks during our stay and a Dutch family took over after us. It would be nice if the hotel would also provide this cat with some care, just like the other cats on site. This does not detract from the hotel!
All in all we had a nice holiday.

Wonderful holiday with a view (and kitten) to remember...

On arrival we were blown away by the beautiful view of the Amopi bay! From the hotel you can explore this beautiful bay on foot, everywhere there are small beaches and you can snorkel. The rest of the island is also beautiful, but for this you absolutely need a car. 1 day there was also an extreme wind and then we crossed the island where it was better. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast is very good (the same daily, but plenty of choice), drinks and snacks (dinner we did elsewhere on the island), very friendly staff and a beautiful swimming pool. Only downside is that there are too few sun loungers (and especially umbrellas) for the number of rooms. If you first make a trip and come to the pool by the late morning / afternoon there is no room, sometimes on the beds "in" the pool, but they do not have a parasol. On the beach there are also sunbeds with umbrellas, but these are (also for hotel guests) 25€/2 and we were 4 (big teenagers), so that quickly becomes very expensive. They could perfectly provide even more lying space in the garden under the pool, so hopefully that will follow, because otherwise we really have nothing to criticize. We would have liked to have stayed a little longer!

Nice hotel, nice place and lovely and caring staff.

Hotel, small scale, modern and wonderfully relaxed place. Very friendly staff and nice service. Breakfast top, pool and bar delicious to enjoy beautiful views. Service is really great. The staff from Cameroon and Bali is top notch, always friendly and big smile. Room is complete but could have been a little more spacious. Bathroom very tight and shower is “open” we did not have curtain rails in many rooms. But well...we enjoyed and definitely recommend this hotel.

Fantastic and luxurious boutique hotel: an absolute must!

Great small scale hotel.
This luxury boutique hotel is run by a very sweet staff. It is the perfect place for rest and romantic views right by the sea. Delicious food:
We had dinner at the hotel for two nights. Especially the Greek dinner for two (€55) is highly recommended! You can taste everything and the dishes are super fresh. In the afternoon we had a nice lunch at the pool bar, only to quickly lie down at the pool again.
Swimming pool and sunbeds: The view from the pool is truly fantastic. The sunbeds are lovely and there is basically plenty of room. Unfortunately, some guests put down a towel in the morning only to arrive hours later. Not really social! Bath towels can be borrowed at the reception for €10 deposit. You can exchange them every other day for a clean one.
Environment and tips:
A rental car is definitely recommended at this location. Amoopi was great for us. You will find some nice taverns, but you can't really go out there. For a livelier evening, you can easily drive to Pigadia.
We lacked nothing this week. I would love to go back again!
