Our Family Holiday and LAERMA restaurant...

Visited LAERMA restaurant during our stay, fantastic service, the staff recommended some amazing dishes and local wine, our servers were Sam and Anastasia - they definitely made our experience! Nothing was too much trouble and they were very accommodating and great with the kids.
5* service the whole week, hotel has been faultless, so clean, exceptionally well maintained and beautiful.
I can't say anything negative. We have had the most incredible week ❤️ Thank you! X

Best Hotel I’ve been

Just had an evening at one of the Al la carte restaurants called Laerma. The location, atmosphere and food was absolutely amazing. The staff especially were very polite and welcoming, great with the children. We had amazing waiters Sam & Anastasia who were so kind, attentive and made the evening even better. Sam is an asset to this hotel. I will definitely be visiting again.

Better than some reviews might suggest

Fantastic location, really modern hotel with a great mixture of options for all the family. Some of the reviews we read before we went filled me with dread but they were all unfounded. The à la carte restaurants were a little disappointing but to be fair, the buffet restaurant was ok. We went out most nights anyway. Have to recommend Ronda in Rhodes old town. And we hired a little boat for a few hours to go to Anthony Quinn Bay but we were not warned that the water can be a bit choppy by Faliraki, but well worth it.

Our 4th Stay at Ella Helea – Still Our Favourite Family Resort in Rhodes

This was our fourth stay at Ella Helea, and after visiting Rhodes eight times as a family, we can confidently say that Helea remains our favourite family resort on the island.
We have been returning since the early years of the hotel, so we have had the opportunity to see how the resort has developed over time. There have been many improvements, but what truly makes Helea special is not only the beautiful and modern property – it is the people.
This year we spent our first week in a Family Suite with Swim-Up Pool and our final week in a Water Bungalow with Private Pool & Sea View. Both experiences were excellent, but the Water Bungalow was something truly special. The privacy, space, sea view and overall feeling made it one of the best accommodation experiences we have had in Rhodes. After experiencing it, it will definitely be our goal for our next visit.
There are several members of staff who deserve special recognition.
At Loopia, Gerald was an absolute star. Always friendly, attentive and professional, and when he realised that we were returning guests, he went that extra step to make us feel at home. Mary, who has been at Helea since the beginning, immediately recognised us. She is warm, fast, experienced and always attentive to the children – exactly the kind of person who gives a hotel continuity and personality.
At the bar/reception area, Vassilis was fantastic. He immediately came over to welcome us and greeted our entire family with hugs. He is knowledgeable, makes excellent drinks and takes great pride in keeping his bar clean and organised. More importantly, he has an incredibly warm and genuine personality.
At Laerma, Eslo and Kleidis were outstanding. Fast, professional, accommodating and always smiling. Nothing ever seemed to be a problem for them. These are exactly the kind of employees a hotel should value and retain.
The same applies to Kostas, who we met again this year at the Asian à la carte restaurant. A genuinely wonderful person who performs his role with professionalism and a natural understanding of hospitality.
And finally, a very special mention must go to Vassilis Kirikakis. After four visits, he honestly feels more like a friend or family member than simply someone working at the hotel. He was one of the first people we met during our first stay at Helea and again one of the first people to welcome us this year. His attention to detail, professionalism and ability to understand guests is exceptional. He has that rare instinct for making returning and VIP guests genuinely feel recognised and appreciated. People like Vassilis are a major reason why families decide to return to the same hotel year after year.
We also want to recognise the housekeeping team. The staff taking care of our rooms were exceptionally friendly, polite and service-minded, and both accommodations were very well looked after throughout our stay.
The resort itself remains excellent. It is fresh and modern, the pools are beautiful, the gym and Ella Play continue to be very good, and having the supermarket on site is extremely convenient for families. The entertainment area also provides a good variety during the evenings.
The location is another major advantage. You are close to Rhodes Town and Faliraki, while Lindos and the rest of this beautiful island remain easily accessible.
There are, however, a few areas where we believe Helea could become even better.
We personally preferred the previous atmosphere around Ammuda Beach Bar and the Street Food Hub. Having gyros, fries and street food closer to the beach created a great daytime atmosphere where people stayed around for food, drinks and music. We would love to see that concept strengthened again. In our opinion, crepes feel slightly out of place directly by the beach, while ice cream and sweets would fit naturally around the Street Food Hub.
We also felt that the service around Ammuda could benefit from some of the passion and personal hospitality that characterises the strongest teams elsewhere in the resort.
An expansion of the à la carte restaurant offering would also be very welcome. It would give guests more variety while reducing pressure on the existing restaurants, reservations and Loopia during the busiest summer weeks.
These are constructive suggestions rather than major complaints. Overall, our experience this summer was excellent.
A beautiful property can attract guests once. What makes people return for a second, third, fourth – and hopefully fifth – visit is the combination of the property and the people working there. We sincerely hope Ella continues to retain and develop the core team that has been part of Helea over the years, because they are a huge part of the hotel's identity.
Thank you to the entire Ella Helea team for taking such wonderful care of our family once again.
We have just returned home, and we are already looking forward to Rhodes and Ella Helea next summer. Hopefully, next time it will be two full weeks in a Water Bungalow!
See you again in 2027
