Relaxing
Small family hotel along the coast. Located by a fishing village in the center of the island, it is ideal for adults without children who want to relax or explore the island.

The location is fantastic but we probably wouldn't come back.
My partner and I are really totally torn about the hotel because the impressions are sometimes very contradictory. I have therefore decided to list the advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages:
- the seclusion. If you have a room with sea view, you only hear the main street minimally. It's just ocean noise.
- the calm. There were always very few people at breakfast/dinner/by the pool.
- the view of the sea! Just fantastic.
- the pool!
- the air conditioning. Definitely necessary depending on travel time.
- the short walk to the village. You are quickly in the center of town on foot. This is really super nice with small alleys, restaurants, souvenir shops and supermarkets.
- the warmth of the owner. I'll come back to that in a minute.
Disadvantages
- the calm. There is simply no sow in the hotel in German. Difficult to talk to staff there.
- the cleanliness. Our room was not well cleaned at check-in. At the breakfast buffet you can discover a few cat hairs.
- At the pool, the tables (at least at the back of the roof) are not cleaned, as is the floor there.
- the pool rubs off.
- the beach is pebble and a bit difficult to reach. In the village at the port is a fantastic sandy beach.
- the room. 1 shelf + the desk. Clothes rail with no less than 1 hanger on it. Hooks on the wall would also help. In the bathroom except for the edge of the narrow window no shelf space.
- the warmth. The lady who is there in the evening gives the impression that she wishes no one was there.
- the lack of professionalism. Sorry, but while the guests are having breakfast on their mobile phones looking visible somewhere to chill instead of care? And sitting around after breakfast watching TV, even though I can think of 1,000 things to do? Our rain shower is on the 2nd or 3rd. Day fell apart. At the reception desk (which was occupied at least in the evening), the part was received in disbelief and thought that it would be pickled in vinegar. Tjoa we did not get it back until the end of the holiday (were 2 weeks there) and could not use the rain shower. The mounting of the normal shower head was also defective. There was no response to a request by email weeks before the trip. There was no hand paper in the bathroom by the foyer until the end. Drinking at the pool was also more of a matter of luck, mostly nobody was there.
- the food. Breakfast was always the same - 1 cheese, 1 salami, 1 sausage, 1 type of jam, Nutella blend, honey, butter, cereal and cereal. Tomatoes (chaotically sliced), something with egg: a kind of casserole, cold fried eggs, hot or cold boiled eggs. Some kind of curd? Pickled vine leaves on alternate days, thick beans with tomato sauce, small croissants, sweet snails, Greek cheesecake (you never knew how old the things were) and bread or in Germany you would call it baguette or ciabatta. Not fresh times. Water, juice and Greek coffee.
- dinner at HP. We really went out to dinner so many times in 2 weeks! You got a note presented and were allowed to choose from 2 starters and so 3 - 5 main courses. The starter ALWAYS comes at the same time as the main course!!!! The food is hardly seasoned, served lovelessly, partly cold, boiled, the vegetables are not well sliced etc. pp. The food in the village and also in Chania and Rhetymno always tasted excellent! So bad.
Advantages:

Potential wasted on mismanagement
We stayed at Stella Beach Hotel almost for 10 days and we got to notice many flaws in the structure but especially in its management. Despite the location is very suggestive (although we highly recommend to be self-equipped to move, because the hotel is located outside the city center), with a sheer view of the sea, the pool, the proximity to a rocky beach "hidden" 5 minutes, a wonderful panorama (beautiful sunrises and sunsets), we were disappointed in the face of numerous shortcomings: if in addition to the beauty of the landscape, you look for care, attention and cleanliness, it is not a place for you. First of all, it is not communicated anywhere, but the hotel reception after dinner closes (and in general it is difficult to find the staff, at any time), the owners and staff of the hotel leave, leaving the hotel open to anyone, unattended; so if you need, you will have to make do. One evening we found ourselves without running water and until the next morning we did not receive any assistance. Even for check-in, there will be no one to welcome you: the room keys were left on the counter and we had to make do for the entrance to the room on arrival. Once inside, we regretfully realized that there was not even a bottle of water in the fridge of the room to refresh ourselves after the long journey. The room is really basic, with no doors in the closet (small and with few hangers for three people); the additional bed was a cot, uncomfortable, clearly cluttered and the room was evidently not meant to accommodate it, since the three beds could only be adjacent to each other and movement became difficult in the room. Do not expect coffee machines, bedside tables, chairs, lamps, a clothesline for costumes on the terrace or mosquito nets (after the third night we had to resign ourselves, buy an anti-mosquito stove and barricade ourselves in the room with locked windows and 24h air conditioning for unbearable mosquitoes, which you will also find in the outdoor dining area, without bagpipes or any other type of deterrent)... you will not find any of this! The bathroom was new and functional: shame only to have found a snail on the ceiling on arrival! On the terrace instead we found bird droppings everywhere: in short, it did not seem a carefully prepared environment to welcome new guests. Again, a power outlet (right above the headboard) was completely undone (and therefore quite dangerous), but above all, know that there is no elevator (we were on the Third Party floor). Appreciable instead the large window that allowed the entrance of light and the view from the room.
Turning to the staff, we regret to say that we did not find the Welcoming and sympathy that we have seen in the majority of Cretans: little professionalism, little empathy, little ability to communicate (the managers speak little and bad English), little precision... in short, not the best! Furthermore, it should be noted that while Booking lists various activities proposed by the hotel (snorkerling, dance/cooking classes, massages etc.), this is not true: the hotel does not organize any of this. Still, it was reported on the site that sets of towels would be provided for the pool, instead this was immediately denied by the staff.
Turning to the food, the breakfast was bad: as for the savory, it is acceptable with a fair variety of proposals (fresh salad, eggs etc.), but for those who love dessert, you will find one or at most two options, very poor (cakes bought in the most substandard supermarkets, hot long-life milk, undrinkable and diluted coffee...), accompanied by sparkling juices like getorade. You will not find anything homemade or at least natural, local etc.. Regarding the dinner, you will be offered two / three appetizers and as many main courses and you can choose one of each, but the main courses will often be of poor quality (often clearly thawed). Not to mention the fact that they will be served directly on the outdoor tables without tablecloths or placemats of any kind. In addition, several times we had to wait a long time for dinner because the outdoor tables were too few compared to the hotel guests and therefore were already occupied when we went down for dinner.
The bar is almost constantly uninhabited!
Another aspect to emphasize: despite it is forbidden for guests to bring pets, here is full of cats that will climb on the sofas in the lobby, on the chairs and tables in the dining area, which you will also meet in the corridors of the rooms... we - being allergic to cat hair - did not like!
Another unpleasant note: despite the check-out is - on Booking and on their website - indicated at 12, in the structure we discovered that the check-out is at 11.
Another note is that although there are Wi-Fi networks available, these will only work in common areas, while in the room you will not have signal.
Finally, due to an oversight we had to extend the stay by one night and - in addition to the many difficulties in intercepting the person responsible to be able to agree - we were charged a higher cost than what appeared for the same night on Booking or on their own website. When we tried to point this out, there was nothing to do: with indifference and rudeness they held their position.
As much as the potential of the hotel is really high and can truly become a corner of paradise, the bad gesture makes its value expire a lot: we are not particularly demanding people, but when we are on vacation and rely on a hotel, we would like to receive that extra pampering and attention! If you want to come, go ahead, but with much lower expectations!

The hotel is really close to the shore. There is a little private beach but it is full of rocks and pebbles. If you want to snorkelling it is a good place with many waves and clear water.
The room wasn't appropriately clean but they cleaned every day and if we needed something, they helped.
The breakfast was good especially the beans and fruits.
We booked a sea-view room and it was fantastic.

Nice and quiet family hotel with fantastic breakfast buffet and nice views
Good and clean family hotel with friendly staff. Delicious and varied breakfast buffet. Nice, large pool, which was very quiet during our stay in August. We stayed in a sea view room, which was recently renovated. The shower already needed replacing. Nice fridge in the room with a large, separate freezer area. Plenty of choice of delicious cocktails at the hotel bar. Walking distance to the nice place Panormos. The beach near the hotel is not much, but a few minutes by car is Geropotamos, a beautiful beach with tavern, bar and sunbeds with umbrellas.
