My second visit to this friendly spotless convenient luxury hotel. Likely to become my home from home. Thanks to all the staff and I appreciate the surprise complimentary bottle of wine and note left in my room.

Nice but inconsistent

We are visiting Edgewater Beach Hotel Chania for the second year, and the rooms and location are still excellent. The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely designed, the views are stunning, and being right on the beach is a real highlight.
Unfortunately, this year there was a significant issue with how the hotel manages the included sunbeds. The offer, website and Booking.com state that sunbeds are included, but there is now a restriction of only 3 hours per day. This is a major condition that should be clearly communicated upfront. Had I known about it, I would have chosen another hotel and simply paid for sunbeds elsewhere, knowing I could use them for the entire day. As it stands, it feels misleading.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is the inconsistent enforcement. Some hotel guests stay on the sunbeds for much longer or reserve them with their belongings, while staff appear to monitor and record the time only for certain guests. On top of that, people who are not staying at the hotel also use the sunbeds during the day, without the same rules seemingly being enforced. This makes it difficult to understand how the 3-hour limit is actually helping hotel guests.
There are also some strange inconsistencies in how the sunbeds are managed. In the morning, hotel staff place towels on the sunbeds, but these towels are not replaced throughout the day after each guest. This raises questions about hygiene and about how the hotel is managing access to the beach area.
The argument that the 3-hour limit is necessary so that all guests can enjoy the sunbeds also feels inconsistent when guests are asked to leave even while there are unoccupied sunbeds available, while non-hotel guests can use them.
The hotel itself remains beautiful, and the rooms, design, views and location are genuinely very good. However, clearer communication, better organization, and—most importantly—consistent and fair enforcement of the rules would make a significant difference. The current approach leaves guests feeling that the rules are applied selectively, which is particularly disappointing when the sunbeds are advertised as an included hotel benefit.

Great location right by the beach with private sunbeds, which was really nice. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely come back again!

Thank you to all the friendly staff for a nice stay especially the lovely Irene on Reception. This is the only hotel on the beach that provides free luxury loungers and umbrellas saving you 20 euros each day.

Our room faced the water with a large deck; it was perfect! The staff were welcoming and helpful, everyone from the front desk to housekeeping. Very good restaurants within a few blocks in either direction and Olde Town is a lovely area for shopping and day trips by boats or horse-drawn carriage. Excellent. Highly recommended!! I am already planning my next visit!!
