The most spectacular view of the lake; really gorgeous. The room we had was very spacious for Europe and all the amenities like balcony, bathroom, etc. were very nice. We were there in July so it was a bit warm at night even with the doors/windows open and the rooms don't have fans or A/Cs.
The biggest downside is that you will either need to use a car/taxi to go to and from town as it is a trek up to the top of a very tall hill - even for people who are in shape!
The breakfast buffet and the staff were amazing!

Again and again
A beautifully located hotel far above Tegernsee. We had a junior suite directly with terrace. Great view of the lake.
The room looked a bit different from the photos but all in all was really nice. The sofa bed unfortunately did not fit in the room. But that's whining at a high level. The bathroom we found to be very good with a big great shower. Our minibar was unfortunately only filled with various drinks on the day of arrival. But there was a bottle of water every day. Not quite so fitting to the style of the hotel we found the green grid fence in front of our terrace. The old wooden fence was much more fitting a little further to the left. The staff was super friendly and always trying to please you. I want to highlight the super friendly young man with the accent (I think his name is Jatzek or something like that). He always greeted us by name inquiring about our condition and whether we had a nice day. He asked in the evening when we got home if we wanted some more cake or a glass of prosecco. Even at breakfast there was actually no wish left unfulfilled and the ladies there were also trying to fulfill every extra wish. Great coffee machine good tea and a really good selection of delicious stuff. All always well marked and often served in small pretty glasses. Very appetizing and so no one can “muddle around” in the food I want to mention here still that there were fresh Weißwurst with sweet mustard and wheat beer for breakfast on Sunday. There was also both a cosy parlour and a lovely breakfast terrace. On the terrace there were even radiant heaters to make it really pleasant for the guest on cooler days. Great signage at all counters such as lights etc.
The sauna area was very nice and clean with a breathtaking view of the lake. Water was available there.
Parking was adequate and available free of charge.
If you are traveling without a car, the way from the lake below to the hotel is already very arduous and exhausting. You don't just walk up there.

THE VIEW JUST FANTASTIC <3
If you love peace, distant views and nature, this is the place for you. High up above Tegernsee (about 150 meters in altitude) you have a large part of the lake and the mountains around beautifully in view. The changing colors of the lake depending on the weather conditions a real experience.
The hotel is nestled in a beautifully landscaped park with impressive trees and plants. <3 Squirrels are at home here and you can watch them play and get food/storage in amusement. The first hiking trails also start right above the hotel, great!
The terrace for breakfast and coffee a dream, beautifully designed and a hammer view!
2 saunas, 1 of them beautiful - overlooking the lake and a gym are available.
Space for covered outdoor pool would be enough.;)
Hotel furnishings are largely modern and contemporary, although some things might involve more staff and a caretaker with an eye for essentials and appropriate control...
Breakfast is good,.... about the already read designation gourmet breakfast can be discussed.... We had baked on the first 2-3 days and the remaining stocks of vegetables, fruit, as well as sausage. . We were a bit sad, especially since breakfast at the hotel is the only meal. Yeah, I guess we were a bit unlucky. In our week stay there were delivery difficulties due to the blocked B307 and the resulting daily traffic jam everywhere. On the following days a better and fresh variety of breads, cakes and croissants..... small salads and also fruit vegetables. Afternoon coffee and hot drinks and cake. Unfortunately, the same 3 cakes throughout the week. But at least.
The Bavarian bread plate was prepared for us on Sunday evening by the receptionist Mrs Collier personally, very nice and attentive <3 a big THANK YOU <3
About a shuttle Service / bus to the place should be considered!! After an active day you might still run down, but never up. There is only taxi... especially since there is no hot dinner in the hotel and you would like to taste a regional wine or something else in the evening on holiday and do not want to drive by car. (which costs parking fee everywhere then) You would rather give the money to a nice chauffeur ;)

Ganz besonderen Dank für Ihr Lob für die ruhige, naturverbundene Lage, die weitläufige hoteleigene Gartenanlage, Frühstücksterrasse und Saunalandschaft mit Seeblick, unsere charmantes Mitarbeiter-Team und ganz speziell zum einmaligen Ausblick auf das Tegernseer Tal.
Die Lage des Hotels - 180 Meter hoch über dem See - absolut ruhig und mitten im Grünen ist für die meisten Gäste gerade DER entscheidende Grund, ihren Aufenthalt im Tegernseer Tal bei uns zu buchen. So eine Höhenlage bringt es automatisch mit sich, dass das Hotel halt nicht zentral in der Stadt Tegernsee liegt. Aber Wanderwege vor der Haustür und im Garten putzige kleine Kerlchen bei ihren herbstlichen Aktivitäten zu beobachten bekommt man sonst nicht so oft rund um den Tegernsee.
So eine Höhenlage führt auch dazu, dass man aus den o.a. Gründen ein Auto bzw. ein Taxi benötigt, um bequem vom Hotel in die Stadt Tegernsee und wieder zurück zu kommen. Denn der Fußweg - insgesamt sind es 391 Treppen - hoch zum Westerhof ist selbst für trainierte Bergfexe und Wanderer schon eine Herausforderung. Daher sagen wir Dankeschön für Ihren speziellen "Autofahrer-Hinweis" für alle Newcomer unter den Westerhof-Gästen .
Wir bedauern wirklich, dass es während Ihres Aufenthalts aufgrund der Sperrung der B307 und den täglichen unendlichen Staus zu - wie Sie es so schön beschreiben - Lieferengpässen speziell bei Lebensmitteln kam. Denn das Westerhof Gourmet Frühstücksbuffet wird von praktisch allen Gästen hochgelobt und ist sehr beliebt. Nur gut, dass Sie das Angebot kurze Zeit später doch wieder so genießen konnten. Very relaxing stay with fantastic views
We spent a few days at Tegernsee for the first time and after researching the internet decided to stay at the Westerhof. We were greeted very friendly and received a great room with fantastic views of the lake. The only downer, which unfortunately was not in the hotel's hands: The weather did not play along consistently. Otherwise, we had very relaxing nights on comfortable mattresses, an excellent breakfast buffet, which could also be taken on the terrace and a small but fine wellness area with 3 saunas, which we also used. The hotel is located just above the village of Tegernsee. By car you are in 5 minutes in the village. Here and especially in the neighbouring village Rottach-Egern there are countless shopping opportunities. We felt very comfortable at Westerhof and can highly recommend the place.
