Very good experiences, we would gladly come back anytime.
We were with friends from May 13 to May 17. Guests at the hotel. It has a great location, especially the rooms with lake views. We were particularly impressed by the friendly and attentive service staff. We felt very comfortable and well cared for during our stay; the hotel was accommodating to our wishes. The swimming pool has a pleasant temperature. Unfortunately, there is currently no sauna with a wellness area.

Families friendly and relaxed
Our stay at the Hotel Paulushof in Rurberg was a real pleasure. The recently renovated rooms are not only modern and tastefully decorated, but also offer extremely comfortable beds and immaculate sanitary facilities. The hotel's own swimming pool invites you to relax and completes the wellness offer perfectly.
The restaurant “rurzeit” impresses with its excellent cuisine, which presents regional and seasonal specialities at the highest level. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant atmosphere, and the view of Lake Rur makes the dining experience even more special.
The location of the hotel is ideal for hiking and other leisure activities in the picturesque surroundings. In addition, there are ample parking spaces available, which makes the stay additionally comfortable.
We can fully recommend the Hotel Paulushof and are already looking forward to our next visit.

I have always said that German hospitality is top...but now come back strongly from that.
Understand that there have been no Dutch reviews for so long. If you say here that you are from Holland, you will be completely healed. 3 shack for may asked at 2 different waiters: nothing. German neighbor pitched in: within 2 minutes a standard game. Not so difficult. Rumpsteak was fine and generously sized. Schnitzels unfortunately not really fresh. Ice cream ordered before...45 minutes nothing. When I asked for a bill.... ice did get up! Kitchen had not received anything..

Good value but patience required …
The hotel is a bit dated (particularly the bathrooms) but everything is clean and well maintained. We were upgraded to a room at the front with balcony, which was nice. We had dinner twice at the hotel. Choice of typical German dishes was tasty and good value for money. Breakfast offered great choice and was really democratically priced.
Although they were trying hard to satisfy their many customers, it was clear the hotel was/is grossly understaffed, resulting in long waiting times (check-in, restaurant service).

Basic Accomodations.
I felt I needed to provide a review as Tripadvisor rates this hotel really high and I am baffled as to why. The room was basic and dated. We were positioned facing the back of the hotel overlooking the backyards of the neighbors and the ventilation system for the kitchen. There was a glass fire door in the hallway that, unless propped open, would slam loudly whenever guests entering your half of the hotel passed. There was a shared balcony area with shared refrigerator that we did not use.
The hotel staff wasn't very friendly and there were times entering the hotel where my greetings went unanswered. All the required covid sanitation was available.
The restaurant was overpriced (most dishes for dinner were 19-26 Euros) for really, at best, slightly below average food. I ordered rinderbackchen, apfelrotkohl, and serviettenknodel. The beef was riddled with congealed fat which was terribly unappetizing and I chose to leave one of the two beef steaks rather than eat it. The potato cakes were microwaved and flavourless. The best was the red cabbage and that was likely out of a can. My partner fared better with the mushroom schnitzel which was the better choice.
We had breakfast on the terrace which is really the best part of the hotel. It overlooks the reservoir and catches early morning sun.
Overall, if you need a place to stay it's not terrible and after reading the reviews perhaps if we had a reservoir-side room with a terrace we would have enjoyed it more. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for dinner but if you are absolutely starved order the basic schnitzel. Drinks on the terrace are also pleasant.
