5 days in Reutlingen

Beautiful Hilltop Hotel with a great view of the city. Nice rooms, good breakfast, great spa. Very authentic experience. Good night's sleep, internet was fast, no complaints.

Hotel in top location, but also with signs of wear and tear

The location of the Achalm Hotel is really very exceptional and pampered if you have a room with a view towards Reutlingen, with impressive sunsets. Rooms are generally cozy, although the continuous glass pane from the bathroom can be very annoying for the person who does not want to get up. It is also not possible to keep the shower temperature constant at a temperature. You can tell from the entire hotel that it has come of age. The signs of wear are clearly visible in many places. We had the junior suite right next to the gym this time. When someone in the gym moves on the treadmill, the noise in the room is extremely annoying. This is extremely unpleasant for a room in this price category and actually unacceptable. If you have a room to the rear above the entrance to the underground car park, the view from the balcony is very limited and if you are unlucky, you are woken up by the garbage collection as the barrels are placed directly below the rooms. The reception is mostly friendly, depending on who is currently at the reception. Tea is offered in the wellness area. I arrived a little later and there was no more hot water. Similar things can happen at the breakfast buffet, that if you don't arrive early, you have to ask for missing things.
As a guest who really appreciates the location and atmosphere of this 4 star hotel, I would like to see the feedback from the guests noticed by the hotel management and bring about appropriate changes.

Naja Spa area

The rooms are nice, but the bathroom has a glass pane where you can see through of course and thus has no privacy. In addition, it will be directly bright in the room in the morning who is someone in the bathroom.
We also wanted to use the spa area, but on the check-out day we were only allowed to use it until 1 p.m., not much use if the sauna and the steam bath only open at 1 p.m.! Just because of the pool we don't have to go to the spa area. It's a shame.
Also the restaurant does not have room for the hotel guests.

Great view

A 4-star hotel, very nicely situated on an alpine pasture with great views from the balcony.
Unfortunately, guests use the balcony as a smoking area, so you can not open the door to the balcony.
The air conditioning of the room is absolutely inadequate, so the room stays warm, even at night.
We had a Classic Double Room with the Best View option, these rooms are on the 3rd floor.
The room was spacious, 2 suitcases had space. The double bed has 2 mattresses that were a bit soft but we slept well.
The wifi in the room was not good.
The walk-in shower is nice and spacious, water pressure is good enough, water temperature fluctuates. Unfortunately, there was no separate shampoo and shower gel just a pretty paltry all-in-one soap dispenser.
There's plenty of storage. The bathroom has a window to the room. This is very nice in itself, but if someone wants to get up in the morning and shower, the light disturbs the one still sleeping. There's no curtain or anything like that.
Except for the balcony commotion, the room was quiet.
Breakfast is good, what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The breakfast room was cozy, the staff friendly. Unfortunately, I had to remove many crumbs from the chairs and benches first. Even under the table it was dirty.
The hotel has an outdoor pool with some sun loungers and with a beautiful view. There is also a sauna and gym. Unfortunately, it smells reasonably unpleasant at the pool. I suspect it's coming from some disinfectant.
In the wellness area is a small counter with free water, tea, apples.
The hotel does not issue a spa card, but there is a VIP pass for Outlet Center Menzingen. With this pass you get a welcome package: includes a small gift, free parking, and 10% extra discount on purchases at certain brands.
Parking at the hotel is free and there is ample parking.

Everything perfect - especially the half board a recommendation

We spent an extended family weekend here and were extremely satisfied. The garden rooms are a bit small, but otherwise everything fit wonderfully. The staff is very friendly and the half board was excellent - very large portions, very good selection of the main course and very delicious cooked. If you wanted to look for a hair in the soup, it would be that we had not known that the restaurant (consistently hot cuisine!) is a few minutes walk, so outside the hotel. This might still be important for people with disabilities or in bad weather. We would have taken the rollator for our mother.
