Fantastic

Beautiful in an even better location. Smack bang in the middle of the vineyards in the beautiful Ahr Valley. The hotel is situated within the vineyards so you walk from your room straight into the vineyards where there are many different walks you can take. Also there are beautiful little restaurants and the wineries where you can taste the wine. Great location and lovely hotel would definitely recommend and will hopefully be staying there again.

Shameful service. Complete lack of customer care.

This was one of my worst ever travel experiences. I booked, the hotel took my money and when I arrived I was met with locked doors and a notice stuck to the door saying that all the staff had left and gone to a party. Nobody answered either of the telephone numbers given and late in the evening, and after a tough day’s travel, was left with no alternative but to cancel the booking and try to find a bed elsewhere.
Communication with the hotel since has been poor. I incurred costs with booking.com to cancel my booking and since this was wholly the hotel’s fault I asked them to cover this cost. No response.

Back to the mid-20th Century dining

Having stayed overnight at the hotel, eating both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, my colleagues and I found the meals to be a throwback to days of yesteryear in both offerings and preparation. Nestled in the Ahr Valley, renown for the regions spatburgunder wines, maybe the entrees offered at the hotel maintain decades' old traditions that the locals have grown to love over the years. The ambiance of the dining room holds to these long-held traditional decor standards and, although the meals were prepared satisfactorily, the dining experience is not memorable. The Ahr Valley has a lot to offer the traveler and if one is seeking a 20th century dining experience (including the cold green bean salad), the restaurant at Haus Appel might satisfy the bill.

In the heart of Ahr vineyards

Good location to stay if you want to visit beautifull slate slopes of Ahr. Room was clean, heating was on. Nothing special. But breakfast was superformal. Dissapointing. Sprinkl of light - glass of sparkling served for my wife as it was mother's day.

It is not getting better

Over the last ten years I visited the Haus Appel several times. But slowly the quality of their services is detoriating. The Haus is not proper maintained. It is sixties style in decay.
Tapistry is worn-out, curtains are to small, showers are hard to regulate etc.
But sad enough also the service is not was it used to be. The breakfast has the cheapest ingredients; powdered scrambled eggs, simple sweet drinks etc. And if you are half way the breakfast times, there is a chance that the little breads or the eggs have finished.
There is no free seating at breakfast. The staff assigns sometimes three couples to one table and hope that they don't show up altogether.
The pricing of 125 euro per night for a couple (not in the top season) is outrageous for the provided services.
