middle of nature, perfect for hiking and biking

Make a reservation with 1 week in advance at least, as the area is quite popular. Hotel is in the middle of Turingen forest. I was there in the middle of June and I had the last room available, a small single room. Small, but enough for one person.
Rates are great for Germany standards, and by any standard I may add.
Room is clean, the cleaning service is prompt and efficient. Views from the room are great: hills and trees, birds singing... Quiet area, great for relaxing. A lot of people come here for hiking and biking - perfect location for a short adventure into nature.
Breakfast surprisingly rich and not monotone - they changed from day to day certain cereals and yogurts for example.

Nightmare Manager Hotel

This hotel was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in all of Europe, I wish I was lying. The manager had so many problems with my and my group during my stay. I understand gas is expensive right now but the manager would go into my room at turn the heat off in my room, I’d then return to a freezing room. The manager had multiple screaming arguments with my group about the heating and he yelled at us for how much stuff we had. We are coming to Germany from North America for the winter, I did not pack lightly and during my stay yelled that I didn’t place everything neatly on the two shelves I was given for my shared two bedroom room. If you see this review, please run.

Nice Quite getaway - Very peaceful

I had one of the best sleeps ever in this hotel. The area is very quite.
The breakfast consisted of cold cuts, various cheeses, yogurt, fruit, cereal, cake, bread and juice. It is a small breakfast. Yogurt is changed daily
In my room I had a mini bar. The room also had a small table and a couch. The room also had a safe.
One you shut off the fan in the bathroom it still goes for a few minutes and then it shuts off on its own. In my opinion a person needs to be careful when exiting the shower as you have to step down.
There are many walking paths in the area. If you do not have a car you can go the next village by bus. If you arriving by train from Oberhof you can take the bus. Then to get to the hotel you have to go up the hill.
This hotel also serves lunch and dinner. There is also a terrace. I had lunch and I had potatoe dumplings, red cabbage and rouladen. I was stuffed after the meal.

FINGER WEG von diesem Etablissement

Wir waren mit unserer Motorradgruppe (15 Personen) im Juni 22 im Berghotel Simon.
Das Wichtigste zuerst: Das Hotel ist auf keinen Fall empfehlenswert.
Wir haben uns auf positive Bewertungen verlassen, leider gab es ab Mai/2022 einen
Betreiberwechsel.
Trotz Reservierung mit pauschaler Preisvereinbarung wurde von uns Vorort folgende Zusatzkosten verlangt:
Parkplatzgebühr pro Bike und Tag (ungesicherter Parkplatz im Aussenbereich)
Mehrpreis für Halbpension pro Person und Tag
Mehrpreis für Frühstück pro Person und Tag
Grund: Gestiegene Kosten. Wir mussten in Summe 328€ mehr bezahlen als ursprünglich vereinbart.
Vorort adhoc eine andere Unterkunft für uns alle zu finden war nicht möglich.
Die Zimmer wurden nicht immer gereinigt, wir hatten dies reklamiert.
Daraufhin wurden wir vom Hotelbesitzer der Lüge bezichtigt.
Er vertrat auch lautstark die Meinung "Mit Westdeutschen haben wir immer nur Probleme".
Nach dem Essen gab es keinen Service mehr, das haben wir dann gerne selbst übernommen.
Natürlich auch die täglichen Hilfestellung für Herrn Geschäftsführer S. (Addition der Getränkepositionen zu einer Gesamtsumme ) . Übrigens: Dort gilt: Barzahlung, keine EC oder Kreditkartenzahlung!!!
Wir warnen davor, zu früh zum Frühstück zu erscheinen, das gibt nämlich Ärger.
Die Lage und die gute Grundsubstanz der Lokalität werden hier leider durch Menschen zu nichte gemacht, deren Herzblut definitiv nicht in der Hotellerie und Gastronomie steckt. Für das schöne Thüringen ist das Hotel Simon derzeit ganz und gar keine Aushängeschild.
Fazit: Finger weg vom Berghotel Simon.

Betteb oK, alles andere kann man vergessen

Kurzaufenthalt vom 20. - 22.05.22, Zimmer ok, sehr unfreundliche, und unverschämte Betreiber. Für den Hoteleigenen PKW-Parkplatz werden 2€ pro Tag berechnet. Werden nie wieder dort einkehren. Das Frühstück ist für Ottonormalverbraucher akzeptabel - mehr auch nicht.
