Lovely multi-lingual staff

The ParkHotel in Idar-Oberstein is a small hotel with opulent carpets, sturdy furniture and old empire decor.
It has a fantastic restaurant and a renowned bistro with a delightful menu of local, seasonal produce.
The staff members are polite, and multi-lingual. It is perfectly located, close to the Museum of Gemstones, the Museum of Minerals and a stone-throw away from the old mines (which are located at the top of the mountain).
It is close to many of the best gemstone and jewellery dealers in the town, which is a plus if that is your reason for visiting the area.
The only minus I found, was the fact that they don't accept American Express as a form of payment.
This should’ve been clarified at the time of booking.

bad experience

Hotel is located on busy roads with high traffic. The room was totally outdated. Only the bathroom was OK. Badly sagging bed and mattress. Impossible to sleep well there. Fixed carpet with many large stains.
Restaurant OK but reasonably pricey.

You are beautiful,and this day the grillmaster for the roast skewer was unfortunately not there .The food and the Service were still at their finest

The air conditioning was broken. The lady at the front desk said it was broken for a while but we were not told upon checkin...come to find we were sent an email that same day about the issue as we are traveling abroad we obviously sometimes are out of cell signal. They should have booked us to a nearby hotel.

Top notch staff and restaurant. Rooms were big and elegant. Close to the Regional station made travel easier.
