Pleasant stay with best value for money, highly recommended!

We chose this accommodation for a family celebration in the restaurant and were given a very friendly, uncomplicated welcome by the owner. The competent restaurant staff served a finely coordinated and excellently prepared menu. The night in the comfortable bed of the spacious and well-equipped room was pleasant and trouble-free. The equally friendly farewell from the owner rounded off our stay. Nothing more was needed!

A restaurant to feel good

It is always a pleasure to stop by Holskenbänd.
This time we were treated to "Gerda's Burugnderbraten". Simply tender with a great sauce - a delight.
My wife ate napkin dumplings with fresh chanterelles, and you could tell the chef's skills. (Very well made napkin dumplings)
Lovely not too heavy chanterelle cream sauce - delicious.
And the special thing is the price/performance ratio is right!!

Fantastic find in a German village with an outstanding chef!

Warm rooms, spacious, clean and quiet but the real differentiator is the chef!!!! Fantastic quality food, beautifully cooked and presented, well balanced and flavoursome. The staff are incredibly helpful and there is a very homely atmosphere.

Wonderful Little Hotel

We stayed here for a night while visiting the family of our exchange student. Pretty little place, very clean and comfortable. The restaurant downstairs offers a very nice breakfast buffet in the German style. The owner offered to make eggs for us in the morning since she thought as Americans we always ate eggs. Very quaint and frequented by locals. We loved it.

Was I here on the wrong time on the wrong day?

Visiting Horstmar on a warm Augustus day, the shadowed pavement in front of the Holskenbänd Hotel-Restaurant with its doors wide open, looked very inviting. But appearance can be deceptive. Being the only guest sitting on the pavement, but nobody showing up for service, I inquired indoor what was going on.
The waiter was hiding inside and told me that they were expecting a group, traveling by coach, but that he could serve me perhaps a drink outside and check if he could provide a meal as well. Isn't that what one would expect from a decent restaurant?
A few moments later he returned, telling me (their ONLY restaurant guest at that moment) that everything was reserved for an expected group and he suggested me to try my luck elsewhere.l
A very definitive NO-GO and an extreme bad example of Horstmar hospitality.
