Great youth hostel

It was my first time in a youth hostel and I was kind of worried. The staff is super nice, the hostel clean. They even received me before the check-in and "upgraded" my room, letting me sleep in a 4 beds room instead of 5. There was only another man so it was really quiet. I recommend for sure.

Lovely stay! Can recommend!

Lovely place! Can only recommend! The location is good - very closer to the train station (2 minute walk!) but further away from the Altstadt with its famous landmarks (40-ish minute walk!), but easily reachable by public transport (especially if you have the Deutschland-ticket!). The receptionist was really friendly! The rooms & bathrooms were all clean.
Would have loved to have an outlet next or close to the bed to charge my phone. But overall I can only recommend & would stay there again!

Extremely rude and unfriendly staff.

Extremely rude and unfriendly staff. Asked for extra blankets cause I get cold at night, the reception guy with glasses would not give them! He said, why do you need extra blankets, you have the heater on, it’s hot here. I explained I get very cold and it’s winter right now, but he wouldn’t give them to me! He kept insisting I didn’t need them! He even said I need to stop with my attitude and I was being disrespectful! I can’t believe it. I’ve never met hostel staff like this and I’ve travelled the world.

Backpacker luggage support

We didn’t actually stay here but wanted to recommend and commend the hostel for supporting backpackers for needing somewhere to leave their bags during the day in Heidelberg while the train station lockers were out of action. Thank you-you made our day very pleasant and enjoyable because if it. We will definitely be looking to stay here if we make an overnight stay in Heidelberg in the future.

Kindest hostel staff I’ve ever met

I didn’t actually stay at Steffi’s, but they let me store my bags there. This was a really big deal to me. I had read that there were lockers at Heidelberg’s train station but when I arrived I discovered the luggage service had closed months earlier. I spent an hour trying to find a business that would store our bags while we explored Heidelberg for a few hours. The Ibis hotel by the train station refused even though I offered to pay. Eventually I found Steffi’s and the staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. They stored our bags and let us use the toilets, and when I asked how much I should pay they said I could make a donation of my choice. Honestly, they are the most amazing people and they deserve every success with their business as they really made our day and helped us out of a real pickle.
Also the location is super close to the train station (one street over), the post office, and there’s a little superette and lots of stores selling hiking/camping/backpacking gear directly across the road. It’s not in the old town, but there are regular buses to the old town leaving from the train station (i.e. one street over) so it’s an easy journey.
