20 minutes from the city yet countryside family feeling
Stayed at the Goldene Gerste last night to enjoy a wine tasting evening at friends’ without having to drive home.
The hotel is immediately behind the church and has about 8 parking spots available behind it, off the road. The Greek owners are very welcoming and showed us to double room 5 on the third floor. Yes, the staircase may be a challenge with a heavy suitcase, but with only carry on size no issues at all. The room is in the roof with a view to the church, small but very practical. There is an integrated space to hold the suitcase with the cupboard, some 10 hangers in it, desk with flat screen tv and even tv program booklet. Two chairs with a table by the window which has a blackening and normal curtains. A night desk per bed, alarm, lots of lights and sockets.
The recently modernised tiny bathroom has a spacious shower, toilet and sink with beautiful towels on heating rack and hairdryer on the wall, shampoos/shower gel on the wall as is soap.
The best was the lush breakfast for Eur 10 p.p. - sumptuous buffet with even asparagus and smoked salmon! Delicious and always replenished.
We did not get to try the restaurant but it was busy both Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime when we said goodbye to the lovely hosts.
Clearly recommend and will enjoy again!

The accommodation is good for one night. The single room on the 2nd floor is accessible via a staircase. It has two windows but no air conditioning. That usually does not bother me, but on tropical nights it wouldn't be foolish to have one. A fan is a small makeshift solution. There is little to criticize about the cleanliness. The shower room is quite compact. Wi-Fi and TV were okay. WLAN and TV were fine. Unfortunately, there was no breakfast contrary to the announcement and order at the time of booking. No indication at check-in. In the morning, the breakfast room was locked. There was no kitchenette, just a kettle with three tea bags and Nescafe.
The Indian restaurant run by the family no longer exists, only a pizza service remains. What a pity.

Shower doors need work. Refrigerator was too noisy to sleep. Once we unplugged the fridge we were comfortable. Parking was horrible. Not happy with the parking situation at all. Not enough spaces and very few on the street as well. Also we should have been told that the entrance was in the back. The restaurant owner didn’t seem happy we entered. He let us go through but it was obvious he wasn’t pleased.

Fine traditional Restaurant near Frankfurt
This traditional hotel/restaurant/bar is located in the suburb of Bonames, about 10km north of the centre of Frankfurt. It is a traditional German establishment, all solid wood and good taste. We have always got a warm welcome, as does everyone, but a basic knowledge of German would be a help. The atmosphere is always cosy, with plenty of locals in the place (always a good sign). They have a traditional German menu, which is a joy to carnivores, but it includes good and very old fashioned (in the best sense of the word) salads. Although you'd not know it to talk to them, the owners Greek roots show through on the menu, with a selection of Greek dishes also included. We stay with relatives nearby and have eaten here on several occasions. We always try to book a table when we are in the area. We'd strongly recommend it.
