Luxury in the former Mürwik/Flensburg Naval Academy
As you would expect from a 5* hotel, expectations were absolutely met. It starts with the personal check-in with drinks and continues with the luggage and valet parking service provided by the helpful staff.
Requests or problems were also implemented or solved in an uncomplicated manner.
The pool is impressive; you can get from the indoor area outside to the rooftop area.

beyond perfection
It is not a palace, but everything is worthy of a palace: the beauty of the high-end decoration (eclecticism of the furniture, mix of genres), the quality of the service, special mention to Mahdi, front office manager; I had forgotten to mention that we were coming with a dog, but I knew the hotel was dog friendly. Well, they were more than dog friendly; Mahdi found another room, handled the luggage transfer, and in the gigantic room, a basket for the dog, a water bowl, a bowl for kibble, and treats were waiting. What can I say about the food? Absolutely excellent; we did not test the one-star restaurant but enjoyed the exceptional training of the kitchen staff: gargantuan breakfast with an incredible diversity of dishes, an incredible cereal bar, refrigerated drawers of meticulous cleanliness, nothing is left lying around, everything is clean all the time, every second. You can see that it is managed with elegance and precision. We dined on the terrace with a view of the marina and it was extremely delicious. The spa is magnificent, the indoor-outdoor pool is incredible with ultra-plush beach beds to relax on. The quiet, the quiet, the quiet (I repeat it three times), no slamming door noise, no lobby noise, nothing, discreet airtight closures, incredible bedding in size and comfort. We only made a one-night stop at Das James on a road trip through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and it was just fantastic. Stop at Das James, enjoy Das James, let yourself be charmed by Das James. No flaws, just perfect, and I am damn demanding when it comes to hotel excellence, which is the case here.

Unfortunately not five stars, dear The James!
We had reserved a double room and asked for a quiet room. Unfortunately, our room was right next to the elevator, and at the same time, painting work was being carried out on the windows of the neighboring building outside. When we asked again for a quieter room, we were told at the reception that this was only possible for an extra charge as part of an upgrade. Quiet was apparently not intended for our room category. :)
At 7:30 a.m., we were then also woken up by the loud beeping of a small crane right in front of our window due to painting work.
The spa area is very nice. However, for a towel in the sauna, you have to walk up one floor to the spa reception – we have never experienced anything like that before.
At breakfast, the staff absolutely could not keep up.

Luxury stay with the most beautiful view of the Flensburg fjord.
It is really a beautiful and very pleasant place. Very great hospitality and present staff. Quiet atmosphere where you can really enjoy a get away.

Not worth the money
Das James is a relatively new and nice 5-star hotel located approximately 3.5 km from the centre of Flensburg.
We had booked a jounior suite through secret escapes for NOK 5,000 with breakfast. Gif and nice reception with sparkling wine and chocolate in the room.
The hotel offered 1/2 pension for 65 EUR per person. It was with three dishes where we could have bought dishes on the menu board at a lower price. For the first time in Germany, the dishes were not overwhelming and for 500kr for three dishes one could expect a little more than similar dishes on the menu tab.
Breakfast, however, is great and several different egg dishes can be ordered. The rest of the breakfast is from an inviting and nice buffet with cheese, snacks, fish etc. in chilled drawers, which are however a little low for tall people. There's a lot on the breakfast buffet.
The room we stayed in was No. 301. Is nice small apartment with good beds and good closet space and nicely decorated.
We had easy access to the spa area m located on the 3rd floor. A nice pool, but the water was only hot one out of three days. The pool is a little special made of stainless steel and with some dividing loungers in the water. We found no real spa.
For our stay a voucher of 20 EUR was included for the spa area, but it only applies to treatments, which was not revealed.
The hotel is located by the Flensborg Fjord in a slightly boring neighborhood with military unit as a neighbor and housing made as houseboats between the hotel and the fjord. Nearby there is both an Italian and Spanish / Portuguese restaurant, which we due to 1/2 pension unfortunately did not try.
It is possible to walk into Flensburg, but the path / road is very uncharming through industrial quarters and an abandoned port area.
For the price of about 8,500 kr. including half pension, we didn't think there was value for money.
