Accommodation for a few days, great

Good location, great breakfast, clean room, everyone was super nice and attentive, the only downside is the lack of parking, but there is a tram stop right in front of the building, so it's better to book a room at the back. No elevator.

Best Value Hotel in Essen

I stayed at Hotel Fabritz for six weeks until last Friday, because I was in town on a short consultancy assignment. The large double-room, which I had for single use, was lovely and clean, and the monthly rate was roughly half of what I had paid at the previous hotel (also in Essen, and also in the same category). The owners and the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food at the ground-floor restaurant "Eule" is very tasty. I did not make use of the breakfast very often, because I'm always in a rush in the morning, but the few times I did, I was impressed with what was on offer, including two different types of smoked/cured ham, several cheeses and sausages, eggs, marmalade, and different bread rolls to choose from. The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to a supermarket that's open until 10pm every weekday, a dry laundry and a laundromat, several of the best restaurants in Essen (in case you want to try something different once or twice a week), the farmer's market (Weds&Sat), and most importantly the Rü, or Rüttenscheider Strasse, which locals like to call the Kö, or Königsallee of Essen, in a reference to the famous boulevard in Düsseldorf. This is where you find most of the restaurants and cafes. If you walk quickly, you can make it to the central station in less than twenty minutes, or a taxi will set you back €8 or so. I would recommend Hotel Fabritz to anyone, awesome place.

Good standard hotel

We used this hotel for the Philharmonie which is only 5 mins walk away, it is slightly further away from the town centre..about 15 mins. Nice and clean hotel, quiet area of town.
Breakfast is not included in the base price.

Nice hoteel

Booked hotel via bookings.com;
nice hotel - easy to reach from downtown and train station by tram (around 10 min. ride). "check-in" was at the bar of the next door hotel, where they also serve a good meal & the breakfast. However, the meal had to be paid separately - could not be added to the hotel bill. The room was okay, clear and adequate.
