Good hotel as a starting point for hikes in the great area

Only stayed in the hotel for one night. Very nice host couple. Nice and clean and a good breakfast. Room with balcony. New bathroom. Hairdryer available. Great. Great value for money. The hotel is a bit older, but otherwise really good. I can recommend it.

Great little place

I stayed here for several nights with my dog. This is a B&B style place rather than a hotel. The room I had was on the small side for German accommodation but very comfortable and full of character under the roof. It had a small balcony too. The bathroom with shower was small but perfectly fine, and everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet offered everything I wanted with fresh rolls, cereal, yoghurts and boiled eggs. If you wanted, there was meat and cheese available too. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The location is tucked away in a residential cul-de-sac so it's very quiet, but with a convenience store and restaurant nearby in the village. Detmold is only a short five minute drive with its many attractions and shops, and there is a bus stop very near too. And nothing beats the surrounding countrysides with many woodland walks!

The house and the waterfall...

Positive: not expensive, clean, good breakfast, nice people, balcony, nice scenery and a beautifull waterfall in the garden.
Less positive: the pillows.. are awfull! Take your own pillow with you ;-)
No watercooker= no coffee or tea in the room.. I really missed that!

Good location

Located close to the "Forelle" bus stop on the 701 bus line from Detmold main station, it's in the middle of the woods and hills around Detmold. It's a great hike from this hotel to the Hermannsdenkmal to the north, or the Externsteine to the south.
The hotel itself is comfortable, only the balcony seems to have some water damage. The host is very friendly. As it's on a side-street, it's very quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is the normal fare you'd find in any German hotel.
There is a great restaurant, packed with locals, just a short way down the street, serving regional dishes.

Exellent small hotel with very good service.

Very good for walking in the surranding woods and city visit of lovely Detmold.
Clean room, family ambiance, great breakfast expirience, friendly and helpfull host.
We arrived in the evening and got the key of the front door & room before we went of to an nearby restaurant. Quiet nightrest in a good bed.
