Air conditioning broken and poor service.

The room in the new building was modern and beautiful. Unfortunately, the stay was completely overshadowed by the air conditioning.
Upon our arrival (38 °C outside temperature), the air conditioning in the first room could not be turned on. After several phone calls, we were fortunately able to change rooms. There, the air conditioning initially worked, but even hours later upon our return, it was still running at full blast and could not be turned down or turned off. Refrigerator temperature and a fan like from a wind tunnel! The problem was known at the reception, but they could not help us. The offered replacement room without air conditioning was not an option, as the window could not even be opened there.
At checkout, our complaint was met with a mix of surprise, boredom, and annoyance, even though several reviews from the past months describe exactly the same issues. Particularly disappointing was the lack of an apology or any form of accommodation. We were denied a written confirmation regarding the defective air conditioning.
It's a shame – the hotel actually has potential, but with a functioning air conditioning system and better handling of complaints, the stay would have been significantly more pleasant. We will not return.

Central location but unreliable Organization

The hotel is very centrally located, but that's it with the benefits. The rooms are okay but a bit dusty. We were guests in September 2025 with a large group of more than 50 people. Unfortunately, there is massive haphazard with the entire organization. We had to pay most of the costs in advance and after 3 months we are waiting for the final and corrected invoice until today. The provisional invoice still includes items without service rendered. The hotel management does not respond to emails or calls including messages on the AB. Even a subsequent on-site visit went unanswered. So if you are looking for more comfortable rooms and above all reliable cooperation and communication, you better take another hotel.

Clearly overpriced for the service provided

We stayed as a family for one night at the Classic Hotel Harmonie in June 2026. We paid over €450 per night for a family room. At this price level, I do not expect a grand hotel, but a higher standard and, above all, functioning basics.
The room was sufficiently large, and the location was acceptable. The staff member at the reception remained friendly and covered the parking fees after our complaint.
Unfortunately, the overall performance did not match the price at all from our perspective. The arrival felt unwelcoming, the air conditioning could not be adjusted in the room and had to be turned off in the evening via the circuit breaker. In the shower, only the handheld showerhead worked.
The breakfast was particularly disappointing. Empty items were not replenished during our breakfast, the quality was overall weak and did not correspond to the price level.
Conclusion: As a simple city hotel at a significantly lower price, some things might still be acceptable. For over €450 per night, the price-performance ratio was clearly disappointing from our perspective.

The hotel was walking distance to the train station, to the cathedral Kolner Dom (which was the highlight of our stay!) and to St. Ursula’s church. We happened to visit on a holiday weekend, so the hotel and city were very busy. It also happened to be very hot, so we needed to have our window open which proved problematic due to a little courtyard just outside where people smoked and talked loudly into the wee hours of the morning. The staff were helpful and understanding and took care of the problem for us. The hotel breakfast was very nice. That said, the shower temperature was tepid, there was nowhere to set shampoo or soap or hang towels, and our room phone didn’t work. So, I definitely think there are some improvements to be made.
