Overnight stay on long journey home

Once again we stopped at this accommodation on the way to a distant destination (we live in France). Unfortunately closed day of the restaurant, but as usual good breakfast. Room a bit warm, no air conditioning. Windows cannot be opened since train traffic.

Bad night, good day.

Ranked 3rd among the worst beds in all the hotels I have stayed in so far.
The hotel is somewhat off the beaten path; unfortunately, the attached restaurant was closed on both days. The impression of the house from the outside is very nice. Despite arriving after 9:00 PM, access to the hotel was not a problem. First impression, good choice. When I entered the room, that impression changed. Please take a look at the pictures. I would not offer this bed with an even worse mattress to any guest. You could feel every single slat of the bed frame. The pillow was no better. The bed linens had stains, and the shower had seen better days as well. The house itself is okay; the breakfast has limited options, but what is available is of very good quality. Fresh strawberries were included as well. Everyone is surely putting in a lot of effort. The rooms are quiet. But for me, sleep is what matters most. And here lies the problem, at least in room 15.

Excellent wine

This small hotel exeeds expectations and worth price. Breakfast was fine and trains do not disturb the stay. Room was spacious (small bathroom). Everything clean and fresh. Wine bottle as a gift was nice.

Still lovely

I haven't stayed here since October last year so it was nice to be back.
The rooms are still comfortable and very clean.
The food was excellent as always, both breakfast and dinner. The restaurant has a limited menu on a Monday but still good.
The breakfast is good also.

If only more train stations in the countryside were like this ...

Converted train station, dating back to the 1860s. Outside you can still board a light-rail (S-Bahn) to the neighboring towns whilst the "big trains" no longer stop in Bretzfeld. Inside you'll find a carefully-converted historical building with simple, but comfortable guest rooms in a really pleasant atmosphere. Very good local food, remarkably good locally-grown wines which deservedly have won several awards. Friendly service.
