More about Burg Rabenstein
Burg Rabenstein
This castle-hotel stands high above the Ailsbachtal Valley. The hotel's private, spacious grounds offer a limestone cave, falconry, a beer garden and traditional Franconian cuisine in 2 restaurants.

Sleep well above the valley
The reception was warm, the ambiance as one expects: Slightly cheesy, romanticizing the Middle Ages.
The room was spacious, although every room has a different layout. While the room comes across as very rustic, the bathroom is emphatically modern - but rather impractical. There is hardly any storage space, the shower is in the high bathtub, and you have to use the rain shower because the shower hose is very short.
The beds were very comfortable, the view from the room was wonderful. You will look in vain for a television, coffee machine, or refrigerator.
The breakfast was quite okay, a buffet that was refilled a bit too carelessly, as well as egg dishes that were freshly prepared to order. There was even salmon and the fruit salad was really quite fresh.
You can certainly treat yourself to an overnight stay at the castle, especially if you are into this romanticized kitsch anyway. The hotel was built in 1975 in the ruins of the castle and thus has little to do with the original castle. But it is very atmospheric.

...an unpleasant conclusion
In the evening, a wild boar buffet was offered, since we booked for 5 people and had to pay in advance. Unfortunately, an older lady in our group became ill during the day and was therefore unable to attend the buffet. I pointed this out before the start of the buffet and asked for a credit. At checkout, they insisted on payment for the unused buffet - it had been booked, after all. After an unfriendly discussion at the reception ("now I have to disturb management to clear this up"), they granted us a 50% credit for the unused service. An unpleasant end to an otherwise lovely stay, which rules out a return visit for us.

Once like in a fairy tale please...
Our room was very atmospheric, lovingly decorated and wonderfully faithful to the original. The picturesque view of the valley was particularly impressive – a magnificent view that you would most like to enjoy all day.
The absolute icing on the cake of our stay was the concert in the stalactite cave: a unique, almost magical atmosphere that we will not soon forget.
Many thanks to the entire team for this unforgettable stay – we would love to come back!

Authentic castle experiece
We would have loved to receive a guided tour through their own "Greifvögel Gehege " but the birds are resting now at their winter break. We would definitely come again.
