Highly recommended!!

We felt at home from the first to the last minute! The tower room is a romantic gem with a great view, lots of information about the castle and its history from the super friendly owners! My fiancée was surprised with a birthday Cremant and the 4-course menu á la Bonheur!! The Argentinian entrecote was mouth-watering and tender and pink throughout! We are so impressed that we will be going back in two weeks!

The boss turns the wheel

The staff very friendly but the boss has absolutely no idea what a friendly service could be. When we unsuspectingly pocketed four plastic (!) spoons at breakfast to be able to eat yogurt on the way on, she drove at us as if we were deceitful thieves instead of kindly pointing out that the plastic spoons are too valuable for her to leave to a guest who will leave 400€ there. They are supposedly washed every day for the next guest! On my suggestion that it was a bit disproportionate to make such a riot over four pieces of plastic cutlery worth at most 20 cents, she said, completely convinced of her justice mission, that she was "about principle." And in a luxury hotel. The woman is just out of place. We went to the castle every year, but we will resist this fun in the future so that more valuable plastic cutlery is not lost.

Very dissatisfied

The booked bulkhead tower (4 stars) was for us due to a steep exterior staircase and steep interior staircases to the 2nd and 3rd. Floor absolutely unsuitable. So we had to stay in the Guest house (3 stars) for the same price. The tiny shower offered hardly any storage facilities. The room was noisy because construction was taking place next door. We cancelled the 2. Night, no accommodation, neither for the downgrade nor for the cancellation.

Exceptional service

A gem of a find en-route from Austria to the UK.
The village is very quiet with very little to offer, but if you want a place to stay the night with exceptional dining, don’t miss this place. We had booked a room in the guest house part of the hotel which is on a lower part of the grounds, on the village square, not so good if you don’t want to do stairs, but we were asked if we’d like to move into the tower building instead. This is in the main courtyard on the upper level. It was a lovely room with a 6ft bed. The rooms further up the tower would have a better view of the surrounding countryside but we were more than happy.
The surprising thing about this establishment is the dining experience. The hosts Christian and IIona Schneider, have a long history in the hotel, food and beverage and cruise ship hotel management and housekeeping department, so they know what they are doing.
Dinner was EXCEPTIONAL! A self taught chef who learned his trade watching the last chef though he was there originally only as kitchen staff.
It was asparagus season and wow, it didn’t disappoint. The waiter-though I’d be more inclined to call him a Maitre D, was utterly charming and knew his stuff.
Breakfast is fantastic with a buffet style offering. Coffee is served by your waitress.
Everything about this establishment is wonderful.
If you need a place to stay for a night on a trip through Europe, do not miss out on here.

Be a damsel for once

At Abenberg Castle you feel as if you have been transported back to the Middle Ages, but with the luxury of the present! The restaurant makes the heart of connoisseurs beat faster, the 6-course candlelight dinner in particular is fantastic. Afterwards you can sleep luxuriously in the castle's tower room and enjoy a wonderful breakfast buffet the next morning. A real dream. To play damsel and lord of the castle for once. The owners are incredibly friendly, so we felt very comfortable. Thank you very much for that!
