Some things you cannot put a price on

Riberac itself is a fairly typical town who thanks to the questionable activity of the previous mayor has had its heart ripped out by the introduction of no less than five food supermarkets. This will explain why there are many for sale signs in some of the smaller shops on the Main Street.
This is a very good town however as a base for visiting the numerous and worthwhile museums and features of the area.
The owner of this establishment takes great interest in her visitors and will do what she can to make people feel at home and make suggestions as to where to go. There is a very good tourist bureau within 200 m.
We found the bed very comfortable and huge, the environment quaint and unusual but above all the atmosphere was very homely
This is a good value place; you will particularly realise this when you discover the stratospheric costs of food in this area and elsewhere. If you want to lunch and an evening meal you will be paying at least £100 UK for two people.
As a rule of thumb, I would allow a daily rate in France of £150 per couple including food and excursions. It is not a cheap country to visit. We overcame this problem by buying bread and cheese and tomatoes and a bottle of wine and sitting in the very pleasant and peaceful garden at the back.
We stayed five days and could have stayed longer.

DEPOSIT REFUND

We booked this B&B for a trip in May, but had to cancel as the wedding we were attending was cancelled. We have given the owner Margaret 2 months notice of the cancellation and asked for our deposit to be returned. After promising the deposit to be refunded and been given excuse after excuse we are still waiting. A word of warning if you do book this B&B pay a deposit at your own peril, if you cancel you are unlikely to get it back!

Cosy

Friendly and efficient staff, great reception of guests and a fairly good distance to the highway for passing travellers. Staff has problem with English language. Restaurant or any possibility to get food later than 9 pm is excluded. Slightly overpriced in relation to the value.

A very warm welcome.

This is a traditional and charming bed and breakfast in the heart of Riberac. Run by such friendly and approachable people. The rooms are well appointed and have a quirky,French charm. Breakfast plentiful and delicious. We were travelling with my elderly parents and Margaret understood that they required an easy to navigate room immediately which was great. Will be staying again.

Well-maintained B&B, on quiet street in central Riberac- Super family friendly

The B&B is located on a quiet side street with ample on street parking. It is a short walk to a town square, where we found a nice playground, the visitors center, coffee shops and bakeries. There is a large food store (an Aldi I think) at the end of the street. You can walk a bit of a distance or drive to the town pool and a short drive takes you to where you rent canoes for the day. We enjoyed our time in Riberac, but decided to spend one of our days a bit further out of town to a man made lake, which had all the amenities a family would need - cafes, free kayak rentals, playground, clean toliets, public parking. We found Riberac to be a good base for exploring the Perigord / Dordogne region.
The B&B itself is very well maintained. The weather was good so we took our breakfast in the courtyard/ garden - which is located behind the B&B and quite private. We have three children and were quite comfortable in the large studio apartment, with kitchen and full bath. We found that not all accommodations in this area of France are kid-friendly so were happily surprised at the welcome we received at Le Chene Vert. We were invited to feel at home, and we certainly did with the very lovely and warm proprietors. They shared with us their local knowledge and gave great suggestions for activities and dining out. We would definitely go back!
