Loved it

We were in the area to attend a 50th Wedding Anniversary. This was ten minutes drive from the party venue. Genevieve is a perfect hostess . The accommodation is spotless, the shower worked and the bed was so comfortable we totally overslept and felt guilty arriving for breakfast late. This was more than forgiven with a big smile. Breakfast far more than we had expected and on the three days were there, was varied.
No hesitation in reccommending.

Paradise in the Languedoc

We just returned from another fabulous stay at La Sorga de Vida. We have friends living in Quarante and we have stayed for the third time in La Sorga. Our first visit was in 2010 and we stayed in the room La Canal du Midi. In our opinion the largest and best located room (at the back). Genevieve's breakfasts are breakfast and lunch melting into one and everything is home made. It is made with love and care and every morning we will find original and delicious home baked treasures on our plates. Quarante is a nice quiet village close to the Canal du Midi and surrounded by nice and interesting places around, still so much to do and to discover that we will be back at our favorite stay soon!

Fabulous!

This fabulous B and B in Quarante is a total delight.
I could not recommend it more highly. The rooms in this beautiful old house (formerly the village midwife's house) are stunning. Genevieve and Alain, our hosts were responsible for the renovation and it is amazing, stylish and comfortable.
However, I must especially mention the 5 star breakfasts - Genevieve offers home cooked treats such as apple pancakes or fig and almond tart (made with her own figs) together with home made preserves to go with the bread and croissants.
We had breakfast on the terrace under the fig tree. Totally charming.

A French fairy tale.

Once upon a time there were two very weary fifty something’s house hunters travelling down to the Languedoc from London in search of that idea of ‘living the dream’! After a seven hour drive and listening intently to our global American sat nav voice (who has become a member of the family) we found Quarante. The village is truly charming even if you get lost a few times before finding la Sorga de Vida, this treasured find is worth the annoyed but patience toots from local drivers as you negotiate the labyrinth of narrow winding streets.
Where do I begin to describe the unique La Sorga de Vida. The house is a perfect example of a rather grand maison de maitre, it’s one of those houses you feel you don’t want to leave once you step into the palatial hall complete with original tiles and creative touches by Genevieve the patron and owner. In fact the whole house is oozing in features that are both charming and quirky. Genevieve is the perfect host and we received a very warm greeting and were shown to our enormous stylish room which had all the creature comforts. The interior design is a mix of classical French pieces and contemporary individualism. This is NOT a few rooms in someone’s home but a wholly professional establishment where practically the whole house is provided for the comfort of the guests. The dining and breakfast room is a light and engaging room and it was a joy to have breakfast here each morning of our three night stay. We certainly did breakfast as Kings... Genevieve is a superb chef and we enjoyed lots so homemade specialities, pancakes, cakes, and preserves. In addition the delicious fresh coffee and croissants were also of a much higher standard. We found it very difficult to manage anything more than a small sandwich for lunch! I’m not sure how many points it would equal on ‘weight watchers’ but hey ho you are on holiday! We did not try the dinner available if booked in advance but am confident it would have been memorable and delicious!
There is a communal lounge and also a terrace both of which are wonderful spaces for thinking, relaxing and yes responding to emails!!
This romantic tale has to mention Genevieve (fairy godmother) who was so kind and helpful, we enjoyed a small aperitif with her on the day we arrived, she advised us of excellent restaurants and is very knowledgeable about this area of France. Our pot of gold was not depleted as this B and B is amazing value for money and it’s hard to believe that the breakfast is included in the room price. Nothing is too much trouble including reserving a table for us at a local restaurant and everything is done ‘avec pleasure’!
Yours Cinders and Prince Charming.
And we all lived (very) happily ever after. The End.

Very good location
