Magnifique!

We stayed here 5 nights. Located in a small village, far away from the busy touristic scene, you will find " Le Chai Catalan". It is a really nice place to stay. Rooms are big enough with a well equipped bathroom. In the wonderful garden you will find the swimming pool. Thé highlight is the breakfast with fresh fruits, home made jam, every day other pastries, fresh orange juice, cheese and many more. This all served by Pascale and Tim, really kind people with a lot of knowledge of the region. If you need some information of the region, they will tell you. All this information is also available in the rooms and shared patio.

Lovely return to old friends

Le Chai Catalan continues to be a real treasure of a place, with a real warm welcome and lovely accommodation. Breakfasts are fab and very flexible - Pascale is really good at seeking out nice things to eat and dealing with diets and intolerances! Fruit and bread always great.
Ortaffa is a strange little village - some interesting walks around the place, but for the best food, head for Elne and the coast

Wonderful setting with knowledgeable host

We had 3 nights at Chai Catalan. The rooms were well appointed and wonderfully air conditioned. Pascale gave us great ideas (and directions) for where to eat and places to go during the day that were less touristy. After a busy day it was nice to take a dip in the pool before heading out to dinner.

Sshhh! Keep this a secret...

This is exactly what you wish for when booking a chambre d'hotes. A warm welcome from Pascale and Tim, a beautiful (big) courtyard garden with pool for the summer, bags of charm and lovely large bedrooms with terrific shower rooms.
The rooms at Le Chai Catalan have been purpose designed for use as chambres d'hotes and it shows. They are spacious, well equipped with stylish furniture and lovely linens and the bathrooms are big, tastefully decorated and well provided with towels and toiletries.
We stayed in February and it was sunny with a brisk chilly wind but indoors all was warm and cosy. The local views to the mountains are spectacular!
Breakfast before we left was a generous array of croissants, varied breads, slices of cake, jams, yogurt, fresh orange juice, tea or coffee. All at a time to suit us. Perfect!

Comfortable room in a lovely setting

The room and bathroom were spacious and spotlessly clean. The garden and pool were tranquil and lovely. We appreciated the use of a fridge in the sitting room area to store drinks and snacks as the village is a small rural one with only one place to eat/drink. Parking our hire car in the quiet street was never a problem. As to the breakfast, we liked the fruit on offer, but pastries and cakes are not really our taste at breakfast. Just the other side of the Pyrenees, in Spain, we had some superb cooked breakfasts on a walking holiday earlier this year, so it is not just an English thing!

Thank you for your review and compliments on our b&b. I am really happy that you enjoyed its home comfort and its calm setting. I am sorry that you didn't like our continental - but copious ;-) - breakfast; I just wish you had let me know during your stay. Although we do not propose a cooked breakfast, I would have been only too happy to offer you a selection of cold meats and cheeses. I aim to please ! I wish you all the best.
