Superb chalet and hosts

Unbelievable food and superb hosts, Duncan and Hilly are great and the skiing wasn't bad either. The chalet is walking distance to the centre of Les Gets and for a family holiday or just getting away with some mates you would struggle to find a better place in France.

Awesome autistic-toddler friendly vacation!

We were at Duncan and Hillary's place just before the coronavirus as a couple and enjoyed it so much that we planned on coming back every year. Then coronavirus came followed by the birth of our girl so our plans were delayed.
Our 2.5 years old girl is autistic and this was our first trip with her. We were a bit cautious as an autistic toddler our daughter has some special needs. However, this vacation was so amazing in every possible aspect, both for our girl and for us!
First of all, it is a very small chalet which is set in a home, so it is not crowded and truly feels like a home away from home for the kids. The dining room is in the same space as the living room, where Duncan and Hillary set up a play area full of fun games for the kids. This meant that eating breakfast and dinner felt just like eating at home for the kids. As soon as they were done eating they could go play without waiting for us to finish. This allowed us to avoid the uncomfortable part where our child loses her patience before we finish eating.
Second, Duncan was extremely accommodating in all of our girl's and our dietary needs. This was a huge deal for us as every parent of an autistic child knows that serving the meal in a way that the child eats can be the difference between a quite enjoyable mealtime and a hard frustrating mealtime. All of the children's meals were healthy, tasty and made exactly according to our daughter's requirements.
Third, the fact that they serve children's dinner whenever the child is ready between 18 and 19:30 and the adults dinner at 20:30 was incredible as we could come back from an afternoon out in our own pace, feed our child dinner in a quiet surrounding without many people, give her a bath, put her to sleep and come down to a relaxed dinner as a couple. As the chalet is not big and the sleeping rooms were just above the dining room, the monitor had a signal in the dining room and we were near enough to her room that we could come by in no time if she cried. The ability to eat an amazingly made very tasty dinner with our child in the next room sleeping was priceless for us. Many autistic kids have trouble with restaurants due to the noise and crowd and their bedtime is important for their well being, so without this option we would have to make dinner oue selves as going to a restaurant for dinner with an autistic toddler each night is hard. I should state that there is one evening without dinner. On that day we went for pizza early and for one night it was a great solution.
Other than that I should state that Duncan and Hillary are very accommodating (Duncan even made an impromptu bath for our kid to bathe as she has a problem with showers), the dinners are amazing, the place is very cozy, the wine is great and we never had an empty glass, the breakfast is amazing and varied including homemade bread and yogurt, freshly baked croissants, bacon and eggs made to order, vegetables and fruits, cereals, cappuccino, tea, and hot chocolate for the kids.
In the surrounding area there are many nice attractions for toddlers without lines and crowds.
We can't wait to come back next summer!!

best chalet in the Portes du Soleil

Fabulous food, attentive service and clean, comfortable accommodation. Duncan and Hilly go the extra mile to look after their guests. the food is most certainly Michellin standard but served in a relaxed unstuffy atmosphere

Fantastic Chalet Sandy

We’ve stayed at Chalet Sandy multiple times before, and always had a fab experience. It was a no-brainer to come here with my daughter for a week in the summer.
A warm welcome awaited, the room was fantastic, simply but beautifully appointed, with a balcony overlooking wonderful views.
Duncan’s cooking was, as always, amazing (one of the many reasons we returned) and he was able to recommend days out and activities.
We’ll be back next year for sure!

Stunning Chalet Sandy

We spent a week at chalet Sandy. Nothing was too much trouble for Duncan and Hilly. The hosts are welcoming and professional. Everything is at a high standard, especially Duncan’s food which rivals a Michelin starred restaurant. Duncan and Hilly are always available with helpful advice for planning your day if needed. Our stay exceeded expectations we plan to visit again.
