Functional site with pool close to La Souterraine.
Ideally located just off the main N145 La Souterraine ring road means a short walk/drive into town and even closer to Aldi just off the first roundabout.
We arrived early afternoon and waited in the huge car park by the lake for reception to open, they are very strict on opening times and opened dead on 15:00, the staff struck me as very business like.
The site has a restaurant attached which is very popular, food is excellent and very reasonable, booking is advised if you want a terrace table overlooking the lake.
The pitches are average sized and ours was carved into the hillside of the road as it winds uphill, we had plenty of shade, some of the top pitches are in full sun.
The pool is at the top of the hill and was very crowded when we went to look.
Entrance/exit is by a code operated gate with a dedicated motor home service point and recycling bins just inside.
Toilets and showers were dated but adequate with plenty of hot water, there are also laundry and pot wash facilities.
My only real gripe was the bins were not emptied enough (although it was peak season) and were getting smelly in the 35 degree heat.
Functional site close to La Souterraine, nothing outstanding.

discovery of the hollow
It is a small, well-maintained, well-treed site that deserves some outdoor development. We stayed in chalet , old but very clean and well equipped.
The village is a 10min walk and a supermarket 5min walk.

Forced holidays
We had to stay at the campsite l’aquarelle.
Simple campsite , good welcome , and place number 15 very nice, especially with this heat.
Showers and toilets are maintained daily.
We thank the team for their patience. A big thank you and happy ending to the whole team.

It's not even worth a municipal campsite
