· Rose by the Sea is a gem. We we greeted by the affable Charlie upon arrival who showed us around the apartment. A cozy beautiful, two floor apartment (much more than your typical B&B, with every amenity you could think of, along with top of the line appliances and lovely decor and a back patio. Just right for a couple of slightly tired travelers. We met up with Rose a little later and she was just as wonderful as her husband. All the big and little touches in the apartment were appreciated. The breakfast were delivered to the apartment with a big smile from Charlie, at whatever time you requested. Delicious breads, pastries, yogurt, butter and jams. The location in Hirel was perfect for us as we wanted a quiet place where we could walk on the beach, and relax (do laundry) but close enough to Mont St. Michel, Cancale, St. Malo etc. There are plenty of great restaurants in the Hirel area so if you don’t want to travel for a bite to eat there are quality restaurants nearby like Escale des Bouchots and La Chaumière D’Hirel. Another factor in giving “Rose by the Sea” a five star rating is Rose and Charlie. They truly care about their guests and are willing to help in any way. We felt as though we were staying with long lost relatives. One other point, one cannot underestimate enough the “bed” part of a bed and breakfast. Best quality and no backache the next day. If a good mattress is important to you, just saying.
