Romantic gem

We were four in this beautiful hotel, which consists of various buildings from an old mill complex. The entire ensemble is situated in a park-like garden with many flowers and a small river. The rooms are modernly equipped, including air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
The multi-course menu with wine pairing at the restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast also left nothing to be desired.
We will definitely come back.

An extraordinary stay

We had a fabulous time at the Gundershoffen Mill. The room was superb, the massage session absolutely wonderful, and the breakfasts perfect. Everything was there for an unforgettable stay. We will be back with great pleasure!

Perfect stop over

We have stayed here over many years as a overnight on our way to and from Italy.
It is just the most tranquil location. Perfect in every sense. The attention to detail is excellent. The rooms are beautifully furnished. Breakfast is a real treat in a room overlooking the garden.
The Christmas decorations, particularly in the grounds, were spectacular. Real traditional flair.
Do book a table at the in house restaurant. Sensational local produce and very friendly service. Again cosy attention to detail without being formal.
Highly recommended.

Enchanting place up to the abysmal disappointment!

It is to be feared that the new owner has not turned the corner of the recovery that did not take place
We do not seem to be expected in this hotel, after long minutes of patience, we despair to seek soul who lives to welcome us, which deviates from the beauty of the place..
The room is disappointing and hardly corresponds to those visible on the site: we tread an ochre carpet from another time that no longer corresponds to the standard of the current hotel, a lingering fish smell through the VMC interface and pastries in the morning when you wake up make you border on apoplexy
Worse! We dare to access your room while you are at the restaurant! Of course, taking care of closing the shutters can be interpreted as a service, unless you prefer to sleep with the shutters open. Notwithstanding, we enter your privacy when nothing invites them and it is not time to clean the room, we swap your personal belongings, we even remove linen and a glass (clean!), if by chance we had the overcrowding to use them
The restaurant episode is worth its share of ultimate desolation
We try to relay you initially in the corner of plague victims while several tables better arranged facing the garden are available..
Admittedly, the place is more conducive to romantic dinners, but building up the little consideration, which is given to the client who thus suffers a double penalty, we dine alone and omit benevolence....
The menu “Escape through the seasons” seemed promising, however
The amuse mouth with its spoon of fish rillettes rather good and hinted at a gourmet meal, we go from disappointment to disappointment....
The Kougelhopf with tonka bean is missing at the call of the starter and you are served a piece of grinding wheel pie, tangy bread for only accompaniment with a foie gras served at temperature .. At my request I am opposed that the Dampfnudle is there to compensate, nevertheless I refrain from “spreading” foie gras on this replacement dish ..
We serve you a wine (??) with an oaky nose and white flowers in the mouth, hardly in line with your puck where the fat of foie gras “hangs”, we would have preferred a more buttery and brioche flavor...
Amusing to some extent the server broom that confuses the client and explains, but does not excuse, the lack of attention.
The perfect egg lacked cooking, unless perfect means raw, and I cannot be told which mushrooms it is accompanied by...
From an entertainment considering these shortcomings, it becomes unpleasant and angry to the utmost extent
The announced herb broth pike has been replaced by a deep-frozen sea bass fillet, whose flesh remains adherent to the skin... we find a parsnip puree that is the Ariadne thread of the Menu or not... and fish eggs for swimming only...
Would we be mistaken for beotians to say to and against us that it is a fillet of zander when it is implied that the fish comes more from the waters of the south than the bite????
It is understandable that it is complicated to provide after the holidays, or even after the closing days, it does not clear you to inform the customer
If by adventure we do not wish to hear or receive criticism we refrain from asking if we liked the dish and avoid derogatory, haughty, casual and disdainful tone towards the unhappy guest..
I admit that the TRIMBACH family winegrower in Ribeauvillé would not disavow me knowing that we can serve a “broken” Riesling, certainly the wine warms up in the glass as Serge DUBS told me one day, nevertheless it loses flavor when served iced...
We think we're at the end of our sentences than nenni!
I wouldn’t dwell on the ice that replaces sorbet, the veal chop with parsnip cream (yes again it) is well worth the first place on the podium
Serving raw veal is not acceptable, of course I do not taste this dish and dare to indicate that the veal is undercooked and can be enjoyed rosé if requested, the spread does not let itself wait: “Not undercooked for whom?” Crime of lese majesty! We think we're failing! And yes I confirm! The client is King! You don't mind if you're not cooked enough for me. I don't want to be contaminated with bacteria, salmonella and other parasites! I teach you, the calf is not eaten raw!
Would the cook have left his kitchen after as many remarks as nenni!
The dish is returned without further formality. It would seem that this is quite a trivial thing and has not been replaced, what about my meat!!! Nevertheless charged!
I would only be entitled to a scathing “thank you”! They say thank you thank you for what? Not to run away certainly!
Do not throw away any more, and nothing is spared you!
I must be punished since I am even asked if I should be brought dessert!!! What an impertinence! I'm deprived of the main course and now of dessert! Are the dishes available on the menu??? How dare anyone tell me that I can not dispose of it!!!
I am presented with my coffee (God be praised prepared without the cook’s interface) cupped sugar (worthy of a low-level canteen) and what seems like an unappetizing meringue, and it is a sweet understatement to pick it up, who would not even try a Robinson on a desert island...
Would they have greeted me at the end of the meal? No goodbye of course to a persona non gratta!
Who would have thought we ended on a positive note (Hallelujah!) the breakfast served at the table is varied with rather good products
In order to close this disastrous experience, magical place, if anything, and that is what is damaging, to watch from afar and then take the powder of escampette!
