Charming

This is a lovely hotel. If you want bells and whistles and deference and in-room ironing boards then, no, it’s not for you, but if you just want to feel at home, then very much so. Presided over by the glamorous Michele aided superbly by a back of team who are “there” without being too much, and very polite, it’s a smashing place.

Thank you so much for this — it genuinely made our day. You have described exactly what we hope Hotel Normandy feels like: not a place of bells and whistles, but somewhere you can simply feel at home. Michele will be delighted to read your kind words, and I will pass them on to the whole team, who will be very touched to be described as "there" without being too much. We are a small, family-run hotel and that warmth is the thing we care most about, so it means a great deal to hear it noticed. Thank you for taking the time to write, and we would love to welcome you back to Cap-d’Ail whenever you are next on this stretch of coast.

Quiet. Great choice for a relaxed stay out of downtown Nice near Monaco. Walking distance (hilly return) to the sea. Shops close by. Good for couples as the atmosphere is authentic and romantic.

To find the hotel go to the tourism office parking and cross the road. The map sent is not very helpful. Staff speak great english and are very welcoming. Room had air conditioning and a fridge. Both were turned off and unplugged on arrival. Rainfall shower didnt work too well and needs attention. Bathroom is very small. Sea view wasnt as described. We had a disturbed view due to a house so couldnt really see the sea. Bed is too short and room is too small. Walls are very thin and you can hear everything in the hotel.
You pay for the location of being so close to monaco and on the bus route. Cheap bus into town of 1€. You can get bolt taxis from the edge of monaco but you must walk to the garage 2.5km from the hotel as bolt is banned in monaco. Cost us 6€ for a bolt taxi from the esso 1/3 walk back from monaco town. Monaco taxis are expensive. Most bus services stop around 11pm.
Wouldn't stay for more than 1 night. Parking is not easy but near the hotel. Small unsecured carpark open to the public. You can park for a discount overnight at weekends after 6pm for .50 cents. More expensive at other times

tas du the’non merci

Very nice people and good food.Very welcoming. It’s a very bohemian set up and has student art house chic.
The Hotel is very small . Thin walls noisy .Didn’t expect someone trying the door on a Sunday pm gathered it was emergency maintenance as they were trying all of them.
Parking isn’t free everywhere and ignore the sat nav. Try to park near the tourist information sat nav sends you to the hotel miramar next door and they have their own parking at a price and get very upset and will tow you away.
Wouldn’t pay over 60 euro. but dynamic pricing due to the time of year.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are delighted you enjoyed our welcoming team, the food and our bohemian, art-house character. You are right that we are a small, historic hotel, so some walls are thinner than in a modern build, and we are sorry about the Sunday door check, which was routine maintenance. Thank you also for the parking tip: sat-nav can misdirect guests to the Miramar next door, so we always recommend contacting us in advance and we will gladly guide you to the right spot. We would love to welcome you back. Warm regards, Jo and the Hotel Normandy team.

Nice hotel but ......

Our room n. 4 was on the lower floor (only stairs, no elevator), very small for a double room; the two single beds were pushed together like a queen bed with very little space to pass, there was only one nightstand with a coat hook above the bedside lamp (?). I would say that removing one bed could make it suitable for single use, but not for two people!!!
Blackout curtains and blinds in the room while the bathroom had no blinds or curtains; the sliding glass door was very precarious and there was a gap in the wall without a frame....so zero privacy, light and noise even in the bedroom!!
The minibar was off and empty.
Very small bathroom, cleaning was okay, towel changes every day even if not necessary (in my opinion, not very eco-friendly).
