A very nice place to stay

What a perfect place to stay while visiting the surroundings of Inari! Nice and friendly owners/staff welcoming us. The surrounding is quiet and spatial, not the mass of a hotel. Also at night it is a good spot for watching the sky, searching for the northern light. There is little light pollution, as it is situated outside the city centre.
The 2-person-cabin was really nice and cosy (we had no. 14). The water boiler, fridge and microwave were very nice to have in the cabin. When not doing any activities, we could use the table for playing some card- or boardgames. The beds were nice and large. The view out of the cabin was amazing. The cabin really looked well maintained, with comfortable heater and cosy dimmable lights (and free wifi available for those interested in having that).
In the evening we enjoyed the hamburgers and kebab/pita at the restaurant, they tasted so good that we had dinner there three times! The breakfast in the morning is fresh and good. Basic, but enough choice, and perfect for starting your day (and actually, who needs an abundance of food in the morning anyway? That can only produce too much waste ;)
The sanitary building was clean, great shower, and all looking quite new. There is a separate kitchen where you can have your own meal, although in winter there are no cooking facilities (only the microwave and water boiler in your own cabin). In spring/summer/autumn you can cook in here.
We couldn't take bedlinnen and hand towels, but for a small amount they provide it for you. If you can't take your own cups, plate or cutlery, they also sell it at the reception.
There is a bus line in front of the campground, but it only goes a couple of times a day. A walk to Ivalo village is very nice. You can walk on the frozen river (takes about an hour) or alongside the road (takes about 40 minutes).

We ate food, which wasn't worth the money. Visit a real restaurant for better food.

It said they served food made of reindeer. What we got was quickly heated kebab on reindeer. It did not taste clean and the meat was not fried, but just heated in a heat oven. Half hot.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
But the food was worse than fast food chain.

Really welcoming hosts, great location and spotless facilities!

I just thought that I would write to thank you for such a lovely stay at your campsite and for all your hospitality! We were a group of 8 open canoeists from the UK who used Ivalo as a base at the start and the end of our trip. It had everything that we needed - lovely cosy cabins, spotless kitchen and shower facilities - beer and food on tap and at the end of our trip a great sauna plus a dip in the river. Thanks also for sorting all our luggage! So thank you for such a great stay and hope we might be able to come back in the winter! Highly recommended for such a great location.

Superb experience at Ivalo

My experience at Ivalo was just awesome and Ivalo River Camping made just great.
It was very exciting being here in winter season and I was lucky enough to witness some Aurora lights just on the frozen lake in front of camping site.
Thanks to Mr Mathie, he was just another nice person to have a good conversation and he is very friendly.
The whole camping site made and maintained very clean and at-most care towards guests. Out of my whole Europe trip, Ivalo is cherry on the cake. And my stay is made this more memorable and enjoyed all my time at this camping site.
My special Thanks for a wonderful Salman soup, I still remember the flavourful and yummy soup with some bread.
Overall, a nice place to stay, and specially if you’re visiting for a picnic,I’m sure you’ll enjoy more than me.
I’d love to come back to Ivalo and hope I’ll say Hi again to Mr Mathie.
Thanks for a wonderful stay :) I loved it

Wonderful staff, location, and a very happy & peaceful stay

I loved my stay here! The facilities are simple, clean, and everything you need. You can be very comfortable while still getting the experience of being out in nature. My cabin was also positioned where I could step right outside and see the Northern lights!
Additionally, I felt very welcomed by the staff, who all were keen to tell me to please ask for anything I should want or need. Everyone was very friendly and I never worried about being a bother.
I was able to borrow a bike from the reception and cycle all around the area. It was so much fun going hiking and also biking up and down along the river and into town. The scenery is amazing. You can also hear huskies barking from time to time :)
This property is very accessible by bus and is a 5 minute drive from Ivalo airport (I actually walked). I would absolutely recommend this property and if I return to Ivalo I would love to stay here again.
