Peppi and Olha made our visit so amazingly special
From the minute we met Olha and Peppi, we were enthralled.
The space contains accessible art, exhibits, and even chances to make your own art.
While the beds were hard and the sheets were Ikea thread count ... but the pulliws and duvets were great, so I just got a second duvet and slept on it. Problem solved.
Again, in spite of the wonderful surroundings, the people are who really make this place worth every single penny.

A very cool funky art hotel.
This place is so very cool, even every room has a theme of art, that is just stunning, plus the lobby and even the outside is brimming with art. I totally loved the vibe. The rooms are very small, I would not have enjoyed them if I was sharing the room, even if the beds are huge. They had no security boxes, was told I could store stuff downstairs but that is really not perfect, no mini bar, no place to put my stuff in drawers, they just did not have any but I got a few hangers. The bed was great, fresh clean linens, I really had a great nights sleep, total black out curtains and a few English channels to watch on TV. The staff was great, always ready to help. This hotel is not in the center of town but tram service was good, right outside the hotel and there is a little supermarket on the next corner. Yes, I would stay again if I was alone in a room.

Beautifully designed hotel that could use a few improvements
I chose this hotel for the price, the fact it had air conditioning when I would be there in the summer, the look/design of the hotel, and its location right at a tram stop (#9).
First let me get some bad things out of the way:
No toilet paper holder in the bathroom. You just had to sit it on the counter. No facial tissues in the bathroom, or anywhere in the room, so bring your own. The pillows were not to my liking. I'm a side sleep and need a thick supporting pillow. These pillows seemed to be filled with air. I would put my head sideways down on them and hear a "puff" of air and the corners of the pillow shot up surrounding my face. Very claustrophobic and not comfortable. I used a flat one some nights, folding it over trying to get more height for support. The last two nights I used the smaller "art pillow" which had no cover, so probably wasn't hygienic, but I needed to sleep.
Light switches in the room are very confusing, so good luck with them. I couldn't even get the entrance way lights off some nights, and I like to sleep in a pitch dark room. The light switches would both dim, raise, turn on/off the lights, but different lights each time and not work the same way some times. It was a nightmare. Most confusing light switches I have used in my 60 years of world traveling.
Hotel had air conditioning, but they decide when you get to use it. Sign by thermostat said "We have automated ventilation in the hotel. Panel shows "A" when it is on. Automated room temperature is 21C" (69.8 Fahrenheit). The thermostat always showed "A" during my stay. I like to sleep cool so I can bundle up all comfy and not sweat. My thermometer that I brought showed the room getting up to 71.4F at times. Too warm for me to sleep.
Final complaint was about breakfast. No orange juice. Only juices were apple juice and redcurrant juice. What kind of hotel doesn't have orange juice for breakfast? No white bread for toast, just rye. Gross. No waffles. No bacon. They said they have pancakes, but they didn't look like any pancakes I have ever seen, they were flat as paper and folded. They looked more like crepes.
Now for the good things:
Beautifully designed hotel. It looked incredible at night walking by and seeing the building all lit up and the view looking looking in the lobby windows. All the LED lights inside lighting up the beautiful interior. I was so proud that I actually got to go in it and stay there. The interior design was so warm, artistic, unique, and welcoming. Not a cold and corporate cookie-cutter look like a lot of hotels these days. The great design extended thru all public areas, even the restrooms in the basement. I opened the red door for the mens room and everything was red. Wild looking. Great. All staff were friendly and accommodating. The room size is what you would expect for European size hotel room. Smaller than American hotel rooms. No chair or desk.
The hotel is on the newer island of Jätkäsaari, which was where the port was. Everything on the island was bulldozed in 2008 except for a few historic buildings, so everything is fresh and new here, having been built as part of a master design plan starting in 2009. Things are still being built. There is a supermarket a 5-minute walk down the road. You can also walk to a Subway restaurant and a McDonald's that are next to each other. That is a 9-minute walk.
The #9 tram stops right outside the hotel. One direction takes you to the ferry terminal, where you can take a day trip to Estonia. The other direction takes you to the train station and other parts of downtown Helsinki, where you can transfer to other tram lines, buses, subway lines, or trains, including the train to/from the airport.
Overall I give the hotel 4/5 stars. If they fixed the things I had issues with, it would be 5/5.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Location and parking top!
Great modern hotel, little noise in the rooms to hear so a good night's sleep. Good beds. Too bad there's not really a room where you can lounge. However, a nice courtyard where you can sit with good chairs.
Rooms were clean, friendly staff. A lot of crowds at breakfast, so you have to sit downstairs, this is clearly less cozy but quieter. Breakfast, especially the hot part, could be better. Little taste. Top location, tram line 9 stops diagonally in front of the hotel and then you are in the center in no time. We bought a 2 day public transport ticket, with which we could also go to the island in a boat. Parking is done in a parking garage (mega-sized) and easily accessible also for larger cars. Check where you park your car and which exit you take (is well signposted everywhere). Charging the car is also possible in the garage on several floors.
