Scandic Front still delivers

Somewhat past its prime but Front still delivers and if you like a quieter and more intimate atmosphere, this is the place! Friendly and helpful staff, a great breakfast buffet with so much to choose from. Very centrally located close to the subway, ferries and even bus service. A generally quiet area making sleep in the busy city much easier.

I was very disappointed with our stay at Scandic Front. The biggest issue was the lack of proper air conditioning. Although the hotel advertises climate control, the room never became cool and was often hotter than the outdoor temperature, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep.
The hotel itself is quite dated and appears to be in need of significant renovation. The bathroom fixtures were old, the shower head did not function properly, and many aspects of the room felt worn and poorly maintained. Overall, the facilities were far below my expectations.
The staff were generally polite, but the service was below expectations. For example, when I requested extra towels, I was asked to come to the front desk to collect them instead of having them delivered to the room.
The location is good, but unfortunately that was the main positive aspect of the stay. Unless the hotel undergoes major renovations, I would not choose to stay here again.

Dull and lacking in basics

We paid for a superior room with sea view. Room was reasonable size, but the decor was dark - dark walls, black curtains (not blackout either), black furniture and only a couple of side lights plus bedside lights, and quite depressing to stay in. Some of the fittings & furniture were tired. (Note: the 2 chairs in the room are very low and difficult to get out of.) Of the 2 windows in the room, one looked directly at a brick wall and the other with a brick wall with a partial side sea view.
The small en-suite had no bath mat (had to request an extra towel to stand on), no tumblers for toothrushes etc (had to use a coffee mug), no face cloth, no magnifying mirror, had to ask for extra pillows (only 3 small ones provided), no fridge (an essential to keep drinks cool in warm weather), no phone in the room (use your mobile to call hotel reception if needed). Internet wasn't available in one half of the room and kept disconnecting on and off if you did manage to get connected in the other half.
Photos were taken on a bright sunny morning, but the room was still dull.
If this is meant to be a 4* hotel, it is sadly lacking in almost all the amenities. Would not recommend.

Our room (superior Plus ) was perfect for a family of 4.
However it was a bit of dust and not cleaned under cushion covers , shelf’s and on top of bed/sofa ends. A minus is that a room like that doesn’t have a kettle or a fridge.
Breakfast was good with generous serving hours as well as the hotels check in/out hours are great!

Fabulous location, but average guest experience

The location of the hotel is fabulous so it scores a perfect 10 on that. If location is the requirement then there is no better place to go. However, the breakfast was the same on each of the four days we were there. When on a vacation I prefer some variation. Lastly, the rooms we stayed on the 6th floor wasn’t the best. We booked. Room with a terrace and hoped to have a better view of the water front. We got to see the side walks of Admiral Hotel instead. Lastly, the terrace table had just one chair. We requested the second one through the app which never came, so whether that terrace was couldn’t be used properly. So, all in all, great location but average of otherwise.
