Nothing pretentious, Wonderful experience !!!
I mean W Chengdu lives up the name of a luxurious hotel and nothing is pretentious there. It was the longest time I chit chat with the FO upon checked in, it was good sleep over the first night, it was good everything I see, I hear, I eat and I smell.
We spent most of our time relaxing in the property. Despite it is far away from the city center, the property is right on top of a stretch of commercial buildings: shopping mall, grocery store, restaurants...etc. Thus we never really walk under the sun.
I particularly enjoy the numerous design elements in basically every where of the hotel and until the last breakfast, I discovered there are chinese writing at the side belly of a panda sculpture but I cant really read it. Nice touch.
5 nights stay gone too fast, I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Thank you Mr. Robert and team for the great hospitality. I will be back again.

It's even more modern since 2019.
I have used W Hotel once in Osaka
Modern hotel with innovative decor.
I feel like it's better than Osaka.
We used the pool and sauna once during the three nights.
Breakfast was included, the breakfast at the Beijing hotel I stayed at was good, but the breakfast biffe menu here is pretty good in quality, quantity and taste.
And my favorite croissants are pretty good.
Twenty or 30 years ago, even in foreign hotels in China, coffee dinishes were not so good.
The clientele is a lot of young people, China is a lot of young people making money.

Great location
Rooms are new and clean. Great bathrooms. Room service is a bit slow probably bcs it’s a huge hotel.
The rooftop bar is nice .
Gym is excellent ! Lot of machines . Well equipped.
Breakfast spread is good too . But again, not everyone speaks English apart from the greeters and main chefs .
No vegetarian options but they will quickly whip it up for you.
Super slow check-in and checkout processes.
Noticed many times guests waltzing at the front desks in their bathrobes . It’s not a great sight and wish the hotel management puts up some strict dress codes at public areas.
