Mediocre

Mediocre although it's not that bad.
The good: its location, the 24-hour service, the TV, the hot water, the breakfast (it was all packaged like cereal bars, muffins, yogurt... but it was quite delicious) and the dogs that were cute but didn't bother you. they threw on top.
The bad: there is a lot of lack of maintenance and cleaning (as soon as I arrived I found hair on the sheets, stains on the towels, dirt in the bathtub...), you have to scrub what you use and it is expensive for the state it is in (I understand I went in high season and it is well located, but it hurt me to pay almost 200K for 4-5 days in a filthy hostel).
In short, if you want something cheap, this is not your hotel, there are surely cheaper ones in the same condition in other areas; But if what matters to you is the location and you are not a fan, go ahead.

Over Priced and Very Noisy

The Palm Hostal and B&B was probably one of the worst places we have stayed in since arriving in South American seven weeks ago. Our room was dark with a window facing a brick wall and it was not very clean. We requested a double room with a private bathroom and got squeezed into a room with a set of bunk beds with a double bed pushed up against the wall. The lightning in our room was totally inadequate and barely worked. The breakfast we were served was absolutely awful. Instant coffee, dry white toast, one piece of old cheese and one piece of old ham sausage. We also got a granola bar that was an added bonus. The owners two dogs barked constantly and the people who lived in the back area of the Hostel kept us awake until after 11:00 PM with their loud voices. Their staff do not speak any English and were not that helpful, although they did call us a taxi when we wanted to leave. For this horrible, dirty, dark, and noisy Hostel we paid about $80.00 CAD. The Palm Hostel was so awful that we immediately looked for an alternate accommodation for our second night in Iquique.

Not backpacker friendly

rooms were very clean but small and breakfast was mediocre. Location is very close to the beach and convenient to walk to which was great! My problem with this hostal was the lack of hospitality. I am used to small rooms and a mediocre breakfast, but being asked to leave the premises while we were kindly keeping to ourselves just waiting for our bus to leave was too far. The front desk lady was VERY rude and even after we explained we were waiting for our bus she made us leave. We stayed for three nights and were very kind to all of the staff for the duration of our stay so this kind of treatment was very uncalled for

No quieren clientes felices

Excellent location
