On google, the "hotel" that is listed actually is a homeless shelter. It's very strange that they are using the same name as this shelter, especially since it's so close. WHY DONT THEY CHANGE THE NAME?! I think that would help a lot. Anyways, when we arrived in toronto and showed up at the address on google, there were a few homeless people outside that told us people had been coming to the location all week, and the security guard there was like "sorry, you guys got scammed, this isn't a hotel". It was a really bad situation, and we ended booking a different hotel because the whole situation felt very shady.
It seems that the listing is run kinda like an unofficial airbnb where you need to call in advance just meet some random person in the lobby of a residential building and they give you an FOB. (We looked at reviews for the listed address and they are even worse. like, a 1 star rating on google, lots of complaints about pretty much anything you can imagine. ) There is no front desk or hotel services. They also send a DM on hotels.com asking for images of your ID, and wrote in a way that sounds very much like some scam or phishing attempts.
It looks like they have added a bunch of extra details on the listing page that weren't there when we booked, but either way doesn't feel like a legit hotel.

I was also disappointed by how my early checkout request was handled. Due to an unexpected family emergency, I needed to leave before the end of my stay and reached out to ask if anything could be done for the unused night. The response was simply that they could not accommodate the request.
Between the lack of communication during the alarm, the obstruction in the stairwell, and the handling of my family emergency, this was not the experience I expected.
