Mysoginist on reception

The hotel is nicely situated & clean, but no restaurant. Breakfast is offered as a continental buffet which is fresh & basic. However, the stay was marred by the attitude of the man at the check in desk. He was rude and totally ignored me (F,60) & would only deal with my husband- even refused to check my ID that he’d just requested. I’ve never been so close to walking out of a hotel. Would advise female travellers to avoid.

Disappointing communication from staff when a/c broke

There is so much to love about this hotel: perfect location, charming and relaxing lounge areas, spacious rooms with character. Unfortunately we had a poor experience due to the way staff handled the broken air conditioning in our room.
I notified staff that the a/c needed attention after a hot and stuffy night of sleep. I called the front desk at 8:30am and told them we would be out of the room from 9 until 3. I also spoke to front desk staff in person on my way out. At that point the unit was already reading 24c. When we returned at 3pm, we were told no one had yet visited the room. Instead of sending a repair person, they sent a porter who fiddled with the wall control and told us to wait 30 minutes. When we called down again, they said that we should pack up our things, and they would move us to a room that they were “cooling down right now” while we were at dinner. So we packed everything. In the meantime, front desk staff had changed shifts. When I spoke to the new staff, they admitted that they did not have an alternative room for us. They offered to open our windows. We agreed as it was starting to cool down outside. When we returned from dinner, windows were still closed and the room was the same temp. We were told they had opened the windows for a few minutes while we were at dinner but they would not remain open for fear of the open window being photographed. While they claimed they had opened the window for a short period, the temp on the wall still read 24. At this point, 10:30pm, they offered us a relocation to another hotel with working a/c. 10:30 pm.
I understand completely that buildings are old and things sometimes break. I don’t expect everything to run perfectly at all times. But I do not appreciate lying and stalling from staff as a tactic to handle issues. Making us pack when they knew there would not be a room change. Promising to open windows and then not doing it. Only offering alternate accommodations when it had gotten too late to be an actual workable solution.
At top tier hotels, I expect staff to be friendly, efficient problem solvers. I also expect them to be communicative and honest. Here, Le Germain missed the mark.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. While we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our location, the Lobby area, and the character of our rooms, I am truly sorry that your experience was overshadowed by the issues surrounding the air conditioning in your room and, most importantly, by the way the situation was handled.
I completely understand your frustration. While technical issues can occasionally occur in any building, it is our responsibility to respond promptly, communicate clearly, and provide reliable solutions. Based on the sequence of events you described, it is evident that we fell short of those expectations. The delays in addressing the issue, the inconsistent communication regarding a room move, and the lack of follow-through on the commitments made to you created an experience that was both disappointing and inconvenient. For that, I sincerely apologize.
What is especially concerning is that you were left feeling misled and uninformed throughout the process. Transparency and honest communication are fundamental to the level of service we strive to deliver, and I regret that this was not your experience with us.
Please be assured that your comments have been shared with our leadership team and the departments involved so that we can review what happened and improve how similar situations are managed in the future. Your feedback is valuable because it highlights areas where we must do better.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely regret that we missed the mark during your stay and hope that we may have the opportunity to restore your confidence in a future visit.
Kind regards,
Sarah Côté

A German in Quebec.

I remember first of all the elevator. Only one for that part of the building, and sometimes the wait is long.
The room faced Rue Saint-Pierre; there were no noises since it was a long weekend with three days of festivities.
Everything worked correctly in the bathroom with a bathtub, which was somewhat narrow for two people.
Capsule coffee maker and kettle in the room, with the possibility of ice on the -1 floor. Exterior rear parking.
Breakfast, correct, in our case extra, which does not include anything cooked at the moment.
Good service.
