A delightful overnight stay, from the genuinely warm welcome to the clean, spacious room featuring a jetted tub. The only thing I missed (as an older person) was a hand railing to help ease into and out of the pool! Breakfast in the the hotel restaurant is a must for the cheerful service and the best Eggs Benny ever (note: not open Mon & Tues.)

Worst hotel experience ever. Outdated, neglected, and hazardous.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and had the worst experience of my life. Due to a last-minute booking when Halifax was mostly sold out, we had to book two rooms, and both were absolute disasters. We paid an exorbitant amount—comparable to a 5-star hotel due to the peak season—for a property that is completely outdated and severely neglected. The first room was unacceptable. The air conditioning did not work, the carpet was covered in disgusting food stains, and the room door was completely broken (stuck from both inside and outside). The manager and a maintenance staff member came to inspect it themselves and promised to fix it during the day, but absolutely nothing was done. To make matters worse, the room was so old and poorly ventilated that it smelled like a musty, rotting haunted house. The second room, which I shared with my husband, was actively dangerous due to the lack of maintenance. There were exposed nails sticking out of the old carpet, and I ended up cutting my foot on one. When we complained, they only offered a meager refund of less than 6.5% of our total bill. Offering such a pathetic discount for an unusable room, broken promises, and an actual physical injury is an absolute insult. This hotel is ancient, completely unmanaged, and a safety hazard. Avoid at all costs.

False advertising, do not be fooled by the online pictures

We just checked out of a pet friendly room here after staying for four nights
Positives
Very friendly helpful front staff, especially Jim
You can park your car right at your room for the pet friendly rooms
The pool was clean
Negatives
Restaurant closed Mondays and Tuesdays as well as the pub which was not advertised online
(they do offer complimentary muffins yogurt and coffee and tea for breakfast Monday and Tuesday)
Pet friendly rooms are extremely dated , we stayed in 105.
Ripped carpet , moldy shower, filthy bathroom tap, whirlpool tub does not work, mattress protector is ripped
Daily housekeeping only on request for stays for consecutive nights. We did not know that and did not have our room replenished after the first night we were there
The grounds are nothing like the pictures, they have a few sad hanging baskets other than that every flower box and every flower bed is weedy and overgrown
Many of the sitting areas on the grounds are unsafe and in disrepair
Looks like this place has gone downhill and the pictures online are definitely not current.
Complained to expedia and we were given a refund for one night because of the lack of amenities advertised especially the fact that the restaurant and pub were closed two of our three days there
Definitely not a resort like feel , and not worth 300 per night
We heard that the hotel changed ownership last year and I'm not sure if that's the reason this place has slipped significantly

The receptionist was friendly. The room was large but had too much furniture. The bathroom was ok but the shower was small and had would around the base of the door. The best thing about our room was the patio outside our rear door that allowed us to sit out there and relax. The worst thing about the room was the smell. It smelled very strongly of someone's dank basement. If you decide ti stay here, do not let them give everyone you a room downstairs.
