The swimming pools were closed the whole time we were there. That was the only problem I saw. And some times some people don’t need the kitchen

Dilapidated hotel

Dilapidated building. There wasn't a section of the hotel I came across that didn't have water damage of some sort, including inside the rooms. Entire lobby reeked like chlorine. Doors to the underground parkade were wide open to the inside of the hotel and did not close. The garage had aluminum gutters attached/hanging from the leaking pipes to divert water so it didn't fall on guests?? It was a joke this type of stuff was happening at a Marriott hotel in Canada. Each franchise owner is different, but I expected them to know how to maintain a building to above slum status.

We had booked our room well in advance. Website says check in at 3. We get there at 3:30, and our room is not available yet because it was not cleaned yet. Told maybe 20 minute wait. So that sounds OK, we come back 45 minutes later, and it's still not ready. It took them until 5:30 until we can finally check in. Staff definitely was not very friendly. And since it took them so look to clean the room, you would think the room would be pristine, but it definitely was not, it was just ok.

Rooms were really dirty, sticky residue in every corner and found hair under the covers and all over the shower wall.

Disappointing Stay – The Element Calgary Airport Has Gone Downhill

We have stayed at the Element Hotel Calgary Airport many times, but unfortunately, this stay was disappointing and made it clear that the hotel has gone downhill.
We stayed one night and, right from check-in, the experience was not welcoming. The front desk staff did not offer a hello or a smile, particularly Grunor, which made for a poor first impression.
We appreciated being upgraded, although we were given an accessible room. We understand the hotel was full, so we stayed in the room, but it was clearly designed for guests with disabilities. The bed was very uncomfortable, the walls were quite beat up, and the lower shower required using the handheld showerhead, which was not particularly comfortable.
Parking was plentiful, and we appreciated being able to use one of the EV charging stalls. Unfortunately, one of the four charging spots was occupied by a large non-electric truck.
Breakfast is usually a highlight, with a good selection. However, the bacon was clearly undercooked. I mentioned this to two staff members. One agreed that it looked undercooked, but nothing was done about it.
We have enjoyed staying here in the past, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. Between the unfriendly front desk service, condition of the room and lack of response to the breakfast issue, the overall experience has declined significantly. Unfortunately, we will be staying somewhere else next time.
