The Nimpkish hotel is a very quaint little place in a charming little village. More like a B & B with only 7 rooms but a lovey little find. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Our room on the top floor was very unique and has a lovely balcony overlooking the water. Beautiful! The breakfast room is small but the view more that makes up for that. The food selection is very limited but satisfying.
There aren’t a lot of options in Alert Bay but the Nimpkish Hotel is a very charming little spot and well worth a visit. The pub / patio downstairs is great too!

A hotel and restaurant with a view

We stayed 3 nights and it was lovely. A very comfortable room, a nice soft bed, good shower, little balcony. The breakfast room provides views over the water (dolfins, otters) and is also an agreeable place to relax in the evening and watch the sunset over Johnstone strait. We enjoyed the restaurant and restaurantdeck very much. Dined here three times and it was good. Not an extensive menu but just good. We enjoyed the chow mein, the fish and chips, the seafood curry and the butter chicken. Breakfast was included and it s a good start of the day with a breakfast with a view. We were lucky with the weather (sun, blue sky) so we could dine outside all evenings. 10 minute walk to the ferry, 5 minute to government dock. We had a very very agreeable stay.

Disappointing hotel in a great location.

The location of this hotel is superb, but the overall experience was disappointing. We paid extra for a balcony view over the bay, but the bay view was spoilt by a very large section of roof, and sometimes noisy decking area below.
The room was fine, with an excellent shower in the bathroom, and TV, the wifi is very good. Our room was not cleaned at all in the four days of our stay.
The breakfast was very sparse and basic, probably the worst 'complimentary' breakfast we have experienced, especially given the cost of the room. One morning all the bread for toast was used up, and there are no staff around to replenish the provisions. The orange juice is in wasteful, small plastic bottles, boiled eggs sit in a bowl the refidgerator with yougurts and the juice, there is a lot of cake which is actually sliced-up muffins, there are no cereals, or equipment to make pancakes or waffles. The 'breakfast room' is a covered observation deck overlooking the bay. It is marvellous for watching the creatures and the wonderful views, but for too cramped for numbers of hotel guests to eat the meagre offerings at the tiny tables provided. There is an excellent restaurant area where guests could eat in comfort, but this is run as a separate business, and not available for breakfast use.
Overall a very disappointing experience in what could be an amazing hotel.

The romance room was definitely worth the money. Spent 2 stormy days enjoying the views and unwinding.
