Sweet-Bitter memory
Meg-Lozenetz hotel is one of the most unique, exquistly designed hotel's I've been to in the world. It has a very unique decadent vibe, and one can see much thought was dedicated to every detail. The location is also perfect - 15 minutes from Vitosha blvd., and most of the staff is helpful and proffesional.
If not for one incident, I would say this hotel is perfect. I checked in at night, rather exauhsted after my flight. The night attended showed me my room, and gave me a tour of the hotel. Above all, I wanted to hit the sack. Unfortunately it was rather hard to stop him from talking, and when he offered me to order a drink at the hotel bar, I agreed. I took a look in the menu, all drinks were priced as they are in Sofia - 10-15 lev. But he said they have no wine, and insisted that I tried the Whiskey. I had a shot, and then another one. When I came to pay, he said the two shots would cost me 90 lev (45 Euros). This is something like 10 times the normal price for a drink in Sofia and more than the price of a *whole bottle* of some very luxurious whiskey. Even if that was the case, I would have expected him to ask if I would like to try the most expensive whiskey in the world, and than it would be my decision.
I can only blame myself, I was off-guard, and didn't ask the price in advance, just assumed it would be the same as in the menu. I also didn't expect to be tricked on my first night on such a beautiful hotel. And of course, if you can't trust the staff, it is quite a problem in a hotel, where you sleep and leave your valuables.
So I can't say I *don't* recomend the place, because it's just exquisite. But I also can't full-heartedly recommend it. I guess you just need to be very alert with the staff in this place.

The attitude of the receptionist was unprofessional, rude and unacceptable.
For one hour, the whole hotel didn’t know how to charge my credit card, as their credit card machine doesn’t follow EU rules for 3D security, thus jeopardising clients’ private data. I wasted a full hour on the phone with my bank, only to find out that the hotel doesn’t follow rules on how to securely handle credit card data. The management kept telling me that it’s my fault, despite the fact I never before have had problems with card payments before.
Breakfast food was decent, with a choice between a couple of set menus.
The hotel was clean, rooms were quiet, and it was situated and in a convenient location, within 3-4 minutes from the nearest metro station.
Some of the photos on their site are dated, as the interior is different now.

Very large comfortable room, very clean. Beautiful window and balcony with greenery. It was quite and pleasant. The staff was professional and very helpful. There is a paid parking (15 euro/24 hours) in front of the hotel, but we parked on the street - it is free during holidays. Safe, green area, at a walking distance to shopping, attractions, restaurants.
