Fantastic hotel at affordable prices.

My husband and I were impressed with our stay at Hotel St. Germain in December 2015. Every staff member (especially Simone Dais at the front desk) was friendly, helpful and professional, the rooms clean and comfortable.

No exactly what we were hoping for

We had reservation to stay November 13 through November 25. However, instead we stayed at this hotel from November 13 and checked out November 22. The full cost was charged as they had a no cancellation policy. We did not insist on a refund for the last 3 days.
The Hotel says they have WiFi, but it is essentially unusable as it is too slow to be functional.
The reason we left early is because of a problem at the Hotel. On Monday, November 20, we were given a written notice that the water would be turned off ‪on Monday night‬ and remain off ‪until Tuesday evening‬. We accepted that. On Tuesday we were told that instead it would occur in ‪Tuesday night‬ and be off ‪until Wednesday evening‬. We decided that that was too much unpredictability (we also saw three apparently clueless plumbers working on the leaky pipe near the Hotel office) and checked out on Wednesday and moved to a lovely hotel further away. The hotel worker at Saint Germain complained that we shouldn’t leave just because there was no water!
On the positive side, we enjoyed the location, the grounds, and chocolate cake for breakfast.

High price for what it really is!

After checking availability on Tripadvisor, I managed to book a Standard room directly with the hotel for my husband, my 16-year old daughter and I for 4 nights - Jan 17-21, 2017. The current pictures shown here are not really what it is. The room needs maintanance, the A.C. is old and very noisy, the curtains are old and some parts are hanging loose and a few more hangers in the room and bathroom would definitily be of great use as the hotel is located in a city full of beaches and the guests will need to hang their wet clothes and towels. The hotel facilities such as the pool area and gym room need some renoVation as well. The staff is Ok but could be more polite. The breakfast guy (I can't remember his name) was the best: very gentle! Breakfast,on the other hand, was good with a good variety.But, we paid way too much for what the hotel's accomodation really is.

I don't like it

Very old restaurant, it looks like a good restaurant in the past, but now is in bad condition without any basic service! I won't be back!
The only good thing is the beautiful of the lagoon and the fact that it is located beside one of the most interesting restaurants of the city!

Outdated property with plenty of room for improvement

Spent 3 nights here in June and was disappointed. The property itself is very outdated and in need of a renovation as the room and decor look very worn. The wifi does not work at all, even after with speaking to staff a few times. In the end they changed the room to get better access but still terrible which made it very stressful when we needed to book flights and onward travel plans. There is very limited hot water, and the rooms are pretty cold (even with the heater blaring). The hotel is very isolated unless you have a car, which most other guests seemed to have,may be good if you are doing a driving holiday. It is about 20 mins walk to the bus station and Florianopolous town. The only real positive feedback I can give is for the lovely lady who worked at reception, she was very helpful with assisting with bus timetables and anything else we needed.
