Worst hotel in Palapye

We booked at Saharastone hotel for overnight accommodation. When we made the booking we specifically asked if there is a restaurant for dinner. They said yes. We struggled for weeks to get any confirmation from them. We luckily then received the invoice that they already charged us for breakfast as well. When we got there they told us that not all the chalets were ready. They even said that one of the chalets doesn't have amenities. And to top it all off....their restaurant was not functional. No one could get hold of the owner/manager as i wanted to speak to her. We had to drive another 100km to a better place that could accommodate us. PLEASE avoid Saharastone hotel in Palapye.

Won't recommend.

The place is half built. Therr is no pool. Not bar. The wifi is bad. The food iw bad. For the ridiculous amount paid, you only get friendly service, that's it. The rooms don't even have a television. NO

Awful - avoid unless you’re desperate

Only stayed there for one night.
Promotional photo’s look good but what a shock when I arrived .
The hotel is like a building site - I’d say it’s 30 % finished .
Bedroom was actually ok - clean and bed was comfortable. Also WiFi was surprisingly good.
Rather noisy because hotel is next to the main road
TV channels non existent- only 2 channels, Botswana TV and SABC.
Staff friendly and helpful .
Restaurant appeared to be closed but was open , bar was definitely closed.
Obviously the owner has run out of money .
Rather stay next door at Majestic 5

Under Construction

I booked this place on the quick through hotels.com because apparently all other options in the area were unavailable for the night.
I booked because it offered wifi, bar/restaurant and swimming pool. It was a business trip, so wifi was important and the other two I was looking forward to after a day at work.
We arrived and the place was desolate. And looked half built. We weren't even sure if it was open but the guard said it was and let us drive in.
We were shown to our chalets. Newly built with fairly decent modern (Chinese?) fittings. We asked about dinner and bar and were told that the bar isn't actually open yet but we could go to the hotel next door (The Majestic Five) where they have a bar restaurant.
Since the booking was no cancellation we had no option but to accept what we'd booked. We travelled a few hundred meters down the road to the awesome Majestic 5 Hotel for dinner (which was not even mentioned on hotels.com as an available hotel) but had rooms anyway. After a lovely dinner there, and thankfully they sold us beers to take back to Sahara Stones, we returned to our accommodation.
It was a warm night so I put my swimming costume on and walked to the huge blue pool, across what I can only describe as a building site.
Got to the huge blue pool and went to dip my feet in the water to check the temperature. Standing there in my swimming costume, I realised that the lovely looking huge blue pool had no water in it. It was just painted blue.
Then I realised that everything around me was half built and under construction. A pool bar restaurant half complete, under thatch, a huge upper deck, just a foundation deck.
Disappointed I returned to my room for a jet spa bath. They have fancy jet spa showers and jet spa baths in the chalets.
But the bath had a weird electrical plug, lying on the floor, that didn't fit the plug fitting on the wall. So much for the jet bath. But at least the water was hot.
Then I noticed everything wrong with this place. It was like the owner "had a dream" and then ran out of money, everything was half done and shoddy.
It was a one night trip and the bed was fine and comfortable, but if you have to go to the hotel next door for post work stuff? Why even stay here?
Special Mention the wifi was good, 4Mb/s up and download speed, which was much faster than the hotel next door.
Other special mention. We left early for work and they called us to say they had breakfast ready for us. We went back and were the only two people there but they'd made this elaborate breakfast of omelette, fish, chips, beans, sausage, toast, which was all cling-wrapped over a plate and microwaved for us, along with Ricoffy (not real coffee) yoghurt and cereal, included in the very expensive rate for what the place was. That was nice and they looked really pleased to serve it to us.
I really hope the owner completes the hotel, but until they do so I need to warn others that the services advertised online (swimming pool/Bar restaurant) are actually not currently available. Check with them before booking a non cancellable rate.
For a little bit more (than their expensive price) you can have a much better hotel just a few hundred meters away that actually has the facilities they advertise.
