Great place to stay in Cotonou

I spent four very pleasant nights in this charmling little B&B. The couple who run it (Terence and Jocelyne) are delightful and were both very welcoming and accommodating. They provided me with some really useful advice for planning my excursions to Ganvie and Porto Novo, and they also helped to arrange transport too.
The location of the B&B is also very convenient. It's only a 10minute walk from the magnificent Amazon statue, and there are also plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. Furthermore, it is also situated in a more pleasant part of Cotonou and is surrounded by embassies etc. Breakfasts were lovely!
All in all it was a very warm welcome and a place that I would return to if ever back in Benin.

Unexpected extraordinarily hospitality

(+) I would like to start my review from the fact that I requested an airport pick up taxi at 21:10 but could get out of the airport only at 23:10 and the taxi driver was still waiting for me! The driver had to wait so long, because my luggage as well as the luggage of many people traveling from Istanbul to Cotonue was lost somewhere on the way and never arrived (at least mine did not). I was the only one, who stayed at the hotel at the Christmas eve. Popo, who is taking care of the hotel, speaks very little English, therefore he had to call all the time to the owner, who communicated with me. I would like to thank all people, who tried and helped me to buy some clothes and change money with a very good exchange rate. Bring 50$ and 100$ new banknotes produced after 2009, if you want to have the best rate. At the end I was even offered to stay one night for free, if I wanted to get some news on 26th of December from Turkish Airlines, who lost my luggage. I had to leave, because I booked a room in Ouidah, but it was an unexpectedly pleasant offer.
The hotel is very well located in a safe embassy district. My room had a double bed, AC, mosquito net, hot shower, terrace outside, strong internet. One time I wanted to get bananas late in the evening and Popo went to his place and brought 2-3 kg of fresh bananas from his own tree! Absolutely for free! Amazing hospitality!
(-) The bed was a bit hard as in many places in West Africa and breakfast may be improved. You get an African baguette, butter and jam, instant coffee or tea, condensed milk, fresh orange juice and a bowl of fresh pineapple. I was actually full after the breakfast but it misses some variety.

Comfortable. clean, fairly priced - away from good restaurants and shopping area

We stayed all in all 6 nights. The place is centrally located in an embassy area, but suffers from lack of restaurants and shops in the vicinity, so everything has to be done with a zem. Rita is a very nice and kind lady, light breakfast is served in the wonderful airy veranda/porch. There is ample hot water, the washing was done for us and they will connect you with a great driver who will take you out of town if you so wish. Hypolite, the the logistics guy, will accompany you to the market and will show you around at no extra cost. Definitely recommended - we felt very safe with him.
Reserve through booking.com - we found it to be the best deal (you will pay more if you reserve direct). Good aircon and good wifi too. Recommended!
