One of the best places we have ever stayed!

This is one of the most special places we have ever been. The people who own Barefoot are so lovely and there is a really nice community feel to it. The amenities were great (fresh water in the room/cooker etc), and we had a view of the sea to wake up to every day. There is a bar run by Larry who is absolutely amazing he is honestly such a great guy and always made our day (and the best cocktails). There is also the jetty which has beds to lie on and hammocks and you can get into the clearest water from there too (I would say this is much better than other parts of the island too especially in Sargassum season!).
We had the best tacos on the island here by Oren they were so fresh and delicious.
The walk into the town centre isn’t far at all, it’s 5 mins walk before you start to see bars/places to eat to stop at- and if not you can rent a bike for $5 from Barefoot.
I would recommend this place so much- we had the best ever time with no faults at all and couldn’t thank everyone there enough :)

Excellent experience! We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time at Barefoot Beach! The staff, particularly Bugsy and Larry,
were wonderful! The rooms and grounds were clean and welcoming. This is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect that, but its clean and quiet! I stayed in a little cabana in the back which was perfect for 1 person and would be good for 2 people as well. There is an open air communal kitchen with some ways to cook, a fridge, and a coffee pot. Very basic stuff but a nice option, and some picnic table to visit with other guests. There is a bulkhead rather than a beach, so the sargassum can't build up and get stinky. The pier extends past the sargassum, people were swimming off the end. There is a charming little beach bar out front, with the best tacos! They also have a fire ring and have a social fire every evening. Great place to relax in the evening, listen to some reggae, sip some drinks and enjoy the island vibes! The hotel is about 15 mins walk to the downtown area where you can find many shops, restaurants and bars. Maybe 20 min walk to the Split. Its about 10 min walk from the ferry, or a $5 USD taxi ride if you have a lot of stuff to carry. I will definitely choose this hotel in the future!

Perfect Week

We had an absolutely perfect stay at Barefoot Beach for the second year in a row with our two kids (ages 5 and 1). We had been in touch with Bugs, the manager, beforehand and she surprised at the airport to greet us and get us to the hotel - such a treat for our 5 year old who is absolutely enamoured with her, and a treat for us after a long travel day with kids. The hotel itself is beautiful with lots of areas to relax or socialize. Our kids spent hours in the pool and we swam off the dock. Barefoot is an ideal spot if you like to meet other interesting travellers - each day we gathered at the beach bar to catch up with other guests and chat with Larry, the bartender. It’s a perfect spot for families with young kids, we felt like we could easily relax and unwind while our kids ran around on the beach area. Larry is so lovely and makes the best spicy marg I’ve ever had. Plus, Barefoot recently introduced a taco menu, and Oren was is at the grill keeping us well fed. Meanwhile our 5 year old spent hours following Bugs around and “helping” her in the office and Bugs was endlessly patient and kind to her. The property is unique for Caye Caulker as it’s right on the water but also close to town (about a 10 minute walk along the beach path). We were up early everyday with our kids so had a chance to take in the incredible sunrises. On our last night at Barefoot Bugs realized we hadn’t had a chance to try conch (it was the tail end of the season) so brought some from her own fridge and made ceviche which we got to enjoy at the beach bar. Ricky and Laura also took our family out in their boat and it was truly magical and fun experience, tons of dolphins and a beautiful sunset. The staff at Barefoot are incredible and we we felt so welcome and taken care of! We will definitely be back to Barefoot, it’s our favourite place :)
