Great hotel

Friendly hotel, people were friendly and helpful.
- clean, spacious bathroom with great walk-in shower and location also very nice. Located between beach and city center.
- Breakfast: fine. Sufficient choice and variety
- Room: clean, spacious, wall view (a bit unfortunate, but ach)
- There was only 1 easy chair, while 2 would have been nice. On the other hand, there was not enough room for that
- Coffee machine with cups: very nice, but only to be used through the hotel, which was wonderful but we were provided with enough coffee cups
- bottles of water in the room, also very pleasant
- parking garage is challenging, because dark and cramped but very nice that that option is there!
- We would have liked to have a double bed, that was not possible (was 2x1 bed)

This 1928 Art Deco hotel is a short walk from the beach, we stayed on the top floor, room 705 which has its own private sauna. Very nice! The only disappointment was not being able to forward book the available parking

Unique piece of Marvin Gaye history

Great location, friendly staff. We got on arrival an upgrade from the smallest room to a large apartment and a welcome drink because booking directly with them. Nice touch. Near the beach, center and Residence Jane where Marvin Gaye wrote the hit Sexual Healing. The highlight was finding the Marvin Gaye statue in our self-curated Marvin Gaye walk. This statue is now in the town hall of Ostend (near the harbour).

Pearl on the coast

Given the sometimes negative comments I read before our arrival, I would really like to give a counter-reaction.
♥︎ We had a very nice night at the hotel, with a very good location, top staff and all the desired facilities!
• All the STAFF were very friendly, helpful and smiling. We received a super friendly and professional welcome and had nice, short chats in between: from the employees at the reception and the lady from the night shift to the lady at breakfast... All very nice people!
• The BREAKFAST is very extensive: everything was present, even chilled cava. I wouldn’t know what more I would like to eat in the morning than what this continental breakfast buffet had to offer!
• The ROOM was very clean and equipped with air conditioning, a TV and a very good bed.
• Two towels per person were provided, as well as coffee, tea, two water bottles, shampoo, shower gel and a hairdryer... Nothing short, quite the contrary!
• We had room 300, which can be connected to the next room via an internal door. Thanks to the extra door, which closes the room from the hall in which this inner door and the access to the bathroom are located, we did not hear the neighbors.
• We booked last minute and therefore had no room with a view of the surrounding streets, but we were charmed by the decoration of the fire escape on the inside, among other things. There were garlands with mood lighting and plants: a cheerful and fine detail.
• All the amenities I can think of are available in the hotel: a terrace in front, an elevator for those who prefer not to take the stairs, a cozy bar, a spacious and modern dining area, a pool table...
TOP LOCATION: you are immediately on the beach, in the city park (TAZ) or in the center.
Extra: we booked through the hotel website and got access to a code that allowed us to travel there and back to Ostend from any station in Belgium very cheaply.
In short: definitely worth repeating!
And as for those negative comments... no idea who those people are or what drives them to write such reviews. We suspect that their comments stem from a very negative attitude or unrealistic expectations, rather than from actual shortcomings of the hotel. Anyway, that's what we as very satisfied guests think of it. As far as we are concerned: don't pay attention!

Decent

The hotel is very well located. It is its number one asset. It is located a 15-minute walk from the train station, 5 minutes from McDonald's (for those who like it), and remains very close to the beach, shops, as well as other restaurants. The staff is friendly but maintains a certain reserve (distance). The building itself has character, but the premises could use a little refreshing because it shows its age. The rooms are comfortable but quite poorly soundproofed; I find that you hear the neighbors and even the street a little too much. Finally, we did not test the breakfast buffet, but at 24 euros per night per person, it had better be good.
