Peace
Traditionally, for the Immaculate Conception holiday, my wife and I visit the Christmas markets in Salzburg. We always stay in the Anif area, this year we wanted to change and booked in Puch. The choice fell on Pension David as it gave the idea of a pleasantly quiet place. We have not been proven wrong in anything, on the contrary! Very quiet, clean, tastefully furnished and functional rooms, very comfortable beds and comfortable "pillows". Basic but precise welcome. The buffet breakfast is varied and designed to satisfy every need. Despite being relatively far from the bus stop and train station (about 1km) to reach Salzburg, for us "walkers" it wasn't a problem not to use the car. Among other things, the property offers guests free tickets for both the train and the bus. Highly recommended!

Familiar, clean and comfortable
We had a family room with a double bed and a bunk bed for 4 people. The room with bathroom was clean and had plenty of space.
There are free parking spaces in front of the house. The guesthouse is very quiet just outside of Puch, but the town is within easy walking distance.
The breakfast buffet had everything you needed and was varied and delicious.
The host was very friendly and gave us lots of tips for Salzburg and the surrounding area.
We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back again!

Dissatisfied
Firstly, photos dont always tell a true story. Looked great in the images but slightly different when arriving.
Secondly, on checkin I was greeted by a not so friendly face and was left confused as I didn't know if I was welcome of not.
3rd, I had a little fan in the room which didn't do much especially when it was 30° c that day.
Finally, in my error I noticed on checkout I had to pay double than what I was expecting. This is my fault as I should have read the terms correctly but 95 euro a night was excessive for a place that was far from a local mall or form of life. The plus, is that breakfast was included, but it was very average considering my mates stayed down the road for 80 euro a night with full board in a great hotel.
I'm not one to complain as I have stayed at great places and really bad ones too, but on telling the owner my thoughts (quite politely) on checkout he got very defensive and quite rude which is why I am more disappointed as he could have handled it better. He shrugged it off and said it's high season and then later sent me a mail asking "is it the first time out the house for me" - don't know what this means but he isn't winning any hospitality points with me.
Dont stay here.

Pension David is spectacularly located. This whole review should fit in that one sentence. Climb up from the Puch Bei Hallein village, cross a bridge, drive through a tree canopy lined lane and on until you find the hotel.
It is located close to the highway so people with sensitive hearing might find that annoying. We had no such irritations of the sort and our stay was pleasant and warm. The family was welcoming and the check in process was smooth and quick. There is more than enough parking on the hotel grounds.
Breakfast options were in line with 3 star village hotel offerings so no complaints. It was less crowded during our stay so we had no trouble with portions and refills. The breakfast hall has excellent views of the surrounding grounds.
We would love to come back in the winter and I suspect that the hotel is more lively and spirited during winter climes.
