Average accomodation. Great food & entertainment

Rooms are average & old. Bed was comfortable and nice hot shower. Stayed 3 nights and other hotels the cleaner doesn't come till you leave: the mug, cutlery and shampoos etc I used were always replaced fresh every day.. If you like quiet rooms then its not the place for you, entertainment starts from 430pm-till around 830pm, but luckily could sit out on the balcony outside my room and watch.. Both were good.. Also unfortunately other people staying are definitely not quiet when walking down the corridors talking or laughing, opening and closing there doors, morning and night.. Staff were all friendly and helpful.. The spa was definitely a nice highlight after a long day exploring.. Food and drinks were delicious and prices good..
Down side I booked and paid for 4 nights but had to leave after 3 nights, which I did inform a young lady staff member at least 36hrs notice.. No refund or partial or free meal was offered, when it was my dog was sick and rushed to the vets and had to get home.. You'd think with plenty of notice you'd be offered something but I don't know how hotels work with situations like this as hasn't happened to me before.. You would think a little something would be lovely.

Highly recommend staying and eating at this Retro Hotel

Excellent location right in the main street of Winton so perfect if you don't have a car. Our room at the hotel while old was clean, comfortable and lovely verandah overlooking the main street. We loved the decor of the hotel, very retro especially the entrance lounge and bar. Great outdoor beer garden where we were entertained by the Bush Poet and Matt Scullion, both superb. Also recommend eating at the hotel, delicious. Can't wait to come back.

Outback Experience

This hotel has a lot of history in Winton & certainly has character. There is not much choice of accommodation in town. This hotel is a typical outback pub & there is nothing really flash about it.
The room has a comfort bed but the decor is very average & run down and a bit tacky. There was a balcony off my room overlooking the beer garden. There is a large outdated bathroom with plenty of hot water once you let the tap run for awhile.
There is a small TV with all the local channels & good wifi throughout.
However the food for dinner was of a high standard as was the evening’s entertainment which firstly was a bush poet and then a good country singer.
It would not be a place I would normally stay at but I was with a small tour group. However being in back of no where in a small outback town, it does its job for a couple of nights rest.

Good feed and entertainment

Great evening. The entertainer Matt Scullion was terrific.
Food was plentiful and tasty. Despite the long queue to order the food arrived quickly. Fun night.

Best ever Thai salad

Had the most delicious Thai beef salad , nice beer garden and great service
