Clean and comfortable with amazing staff
The property was attached to a hotel (pokie venue) which is the only thing I didn’t like about the accommodation. It did surprise me though as the staff were wonderful and the rooms extremely clean and comfortable. For the price it was great and as we had a concert at ANZ stadium the location suited us. There is a huge market next door which was a pleasant way to spend an hour or so. There is a chemist, coffee shop, supermarket and banks in shopping village next door. The train station is a five minute walk which is very handy.

One night stay - practical, clean and comfortable.
I am entering this review as I noted when searching Tripadvisor for accomodation that this Hotel has had no reviews since 2020. to update fellow travellers I can confirm and endorse the accuracy of the previous review writers.
The Hotel is on the busy Parramatta Road and the bustling Flemington Markets (major supplier of Sydney's commercial level fruit and vegetables). The area itself is not attractive and there is always some background noise from the Markets - even during late evening and early morning.
The Hotel room I used was clean and practical - as others have described. The 'Bistro' in the Hotel was a pleasant surprise with the food choice, cost and quality. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Parking is available outside the Hotel and is shared with the local customers. but the Hotel location is

exceeded expectations
Firstly-Prior review complained about the piano. This appears to have been rectified as they have screwed the lid shut so people cant play it.
We booked to see Queen at the stadium so wanted somewhere close and cheap. At $145 a room this was very good value. Ok the rooms are dated but they are clean and have all the basics. The aircon is great and super quiet and beds are pretty good.
The restaurant is GREAT. Food prices are awesome and the standard of meals is of high quality and their service is very good.
The only issue we had is the lack of signage to direct you to reception. We finally located it in the gaming area of the pub so had to leave the kids outside. The service all round was great and if you are looking somewhere close to ANZ stadium for a good price then this is your place even with kids..

Two night stay at the Markets Hotel
Our room had a double bed and single bed.
There is a microwave, kettle and bar fridge with complimentary milk. There is no toaster. There was a communal iron and ironing board in the hallway.
The bed was not the greatest and would give it a 6 out of 10.
It is attached to the Pub. The Pub had a restaurant that served very nice food at a good price. All the staff were very friendly.
It is situated right next to the Sydney markets that sell fresh fruit, veg and seafood.
There is a cafe outside as well as plenty of ATMs and a chemist.
This is a three star motel, but I happily give it four stars.
Would stay here again.

Room for improvement
The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed comfortable.
Full size cupboard for storage, giant flat screen TV, small refrigerator, air conditioning, complimentary milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which I thought was nice - haven't had that in any other hotel AND refilled by housekeeping team as well if you're staying more than one night. Free Wifi, strong signal.
My room was facing the markets loading dock. Yes you will see and hear all the trucks and forklifts driving along, but I kept my window closed and the noise wasn't that bothersome. I'm a light sleeper and none of it woke me up.
THE BAD -
PIANO IN THE ROOM CORRIDOR: Yes there's a Piano in the hallway..right outside Room 1. It's unlocked - so at anytime of the day and night you could get drunks/children/misc having a good old time jamming away. I'm not sure why, of all places the hotel decided to put a piano right outside the guest rooms, it's like an open invitation to anyone walking past. The noise echoes though out the corridor and even though my room was more than 10 metres away, it was LOUD. I had to put a rolled up towel at the bottom of my door to try and block the noise out.
HOTEL CARPARK: If you have a car with you, this car park gets locked up between 11:30pm to 6am, I believe it's to keep out all the market customers & staff which is fair enough. I had a car, and was told to call the hotel number if I had to leave anytime before 6am.
One morning I had to leave at 5:15am, I called the number and the carpark man was quick to let me out. No problems. The following morning, I called for 30min straight. No answer so I was trapped in the car park for 45min, had to cancel my plans because of it. Another staff member who was just starting their shift even had trouble trying to get into the building to get the car park opened (about 5:50am).. I gave up after that and went for a walk through the markets. I returned at 6am, lo and behold the carpark was finally open.
Maybe hotel management should consider moving the Piano far away from the rooms and have a Plan B for the carpark if the first contact fails.
I don't think I'd stay here again because of those issues above.
