Poor communication from an unmanned reception not good for international visitors.
However, if you’re an international traveller, be prepared for the unmanned reception and the unavailability of any staff. We did not receive any information on booking.com regarding our visit or check-in details and the numbers provided to contact on the office door do not work for overseas call providers. Fortunately, the shop across the road were very obliging and allowed us to use their phone to ring someone who was working for the motel remotely. Quite what we would have done had we arrived very late (we were there at 3pm) I don’t know.
When we made contact, the receptionist blamed Expedia but we hadn’t booked through them - and she was quite adamant about it. Having finally got ourselves in and seen other reviews, it would appear we’re not alone.
The accommodation was comfortable and clean. We had what we needed, including a microwave, but cutlery and crockery was at a minimum (just 2 of everything) and the lack of a bottle opener (especially with a renowned brewery down the road) was a pain.
If you’re prepared for poor communication ahead of your visit and can call Australian numbers, you should be fine. Once we were in, everything was pretty good.

Great Room (16) for the money.
The hotel was very good. We had room 16. It was clean, roomy, very affordable, in town, right next to their own cafe, had designated parking right outside the room (every hotel can improve on their parking but this worked out fine, if a little squeezy.)
Thank you for a comfortable bed for the night, in a quiet location on a Friday night. Well done.
